I've been on this website for a little while now, and, well it's been fun.
I've been rude, I've been a little disrespectful, I've been the awesomest thing you've ever witnessed, but all good things must come to an end.
After 6 years, I'm finally going back to France tomorrow, to live and study there, and boy is it going to suck. I'll have to go back to the crippling social retardation and shyness (that only disappears in China, somehow), no friends, no family, no girlfriend, no online TV shows and movies, not allowed to use bittorrent without potential consequences, surrounded by people whom I can't criticize because not only they understand what I'm saying, but they also function quite normally, so you can't make fun of them for barely being able to live through natural selection (yes, I this is a criticism, and you know what I'm talking about).
No more great Firewall, no more breaking the rules, no more Chinese food (which I honestly find "just so-so") no more having to be careful every day to not get tricked into giving more money than the actual price...
Just me, video games,a speed-of-light fast internet connection, tissues, lube, and myself.
So yeah, it's been nice talking to SOME of you guys. Some of you were great, and you know who you are. The rest were so amazingly stupid they won't be able to recognize themselves. But it's ok, let them give you a big drooly hug and it'll pass, am I right? Just kidding Ma***ya, I don't have anything against the mentally challenged, don't worry.
Smell you guys and girls later, I'll be back, eventually, for more profanities!

Travel safe, Mr_spoon. There is a point when all return from where they once were. China does, however, have a way of changing people (for good or ill). As you said, "no more private conversations in public!" You take a part of this place back with you, ya know.
C'ya when you return.
I also found the food to be ok, but not especially good. My opinion would have improved if it didn't make me feel awful. Going home can suck, but I hope you can make the best of it. Unfortunately my plans to go to Korea this fall fell through and I will have to wait and try again in a few months. I guess I can't complain about spending some holidays at home. If I actually apply myself, I might learn at least a survival level of Korean before I go. I have a feeling it will be more useful than Chinese was in China. Stay in touch.
GuilinRaf:
Sorry to hear about the delay in your plans.
I heard from a friend of mine who spent two years in Korea (Army) that korean is easier to learn than chinese AND that they have fewer characters, less than 50 or so.
rasklnik:
Korea has an alphabet, it doesn't have characters at all. That said most Koreans have to read a few hundred Chinese Characters to be considered educated. Korean has difficult grammar, but no tones so you'll be easy to understand.
Jnusb416:
In the past they used Chinese characters, until one of their leaders created an alphabet. These days they rarely use characters, but look at photos from 60 years ago, you'll see all the signs had them. I think Korean as a language is more difficult to learn because of grammar, but you're right, there are no tones, and only a few characters. Plus, although there are different dialects, I've read they can be understood by others, so I think it will be easier to learn.
Good luck on your new adventure! But fret not...there are Chinese girls everywhere including France...you'll be fine. Let us know how it works out.
Salut.
france, one of my fav countries in the world. enjoy, goodluck.
My flight has been canceled due to a typhoon in Hong-Kong.
Don't you love it when you say goodbye to your close ones with tears and all that, and then awkwardly come back in the next few hours?
FML.
