Q: New toilets in Shanghai?

Shanghai’s first “pet toilet” was recently opened on the side of a small fitness track in the Baohua community in the city’s Hongkou District.

Before you feel too impressed, you should probably know that the “pet toilet” is basically just an oversized litter box. Nonetheless, the pets seem to enjoy using it, and the locals are no doubt excited at the prospect of no longer having to worry about stepping in poop on the road.

Will this become China’s next hot trend?

Now if they could only just toilet train some of the locals

Then again maybe the pet toilet would be cleaner than the ones they expect us to use

I will believe it when I see it. I don't think it will ever happen. Pet toilets never heard of such a thing. They have litter boxes for cats, but that's usually a household item. They definitely won't be putting that where I live!

How long before the locals start using the pet toilet? ... Shift+R improves the quality of this image. Shift+A improves the quality of all images on this page.

How can you be neg-repped for such a comment?

I can only presume that you were giving neg-fingers (rather than neg-rep) by Chinese readers of this site.

Truth hurts and all that.

Silva seems more rational and better English. Both definitely Chinese, though. You can tell by the (lack of) thought processes and support for bad Chinese behaviour.

and if matty is banned, why is he still here? I thought banned was banned and use of multy accounts forbidden? You can argue freedom, but thats a load of crap considering. Freedom to be stupid, boring and abnoxious doesn't exist.

How do you prove 100% that it is the same person? Silva's not too bad, if you don't take it seriously.

no, the next hot trend will be trying to teach pets to clean up after their filthy owners

CARLGODWIN1983:

We wish, Crimo.

If only the dogs could reverse train their owners.  I feel sorry for the dogs though, and all the other pets for that matter.

I've had cats that used the bath tub drain and only for pee. There is a kit for training a cat to use a toilet. You get it used to going there, then take the kit away. I sold cats that used the toilet on their own. The squat toilet would be easier to train a cat to use.

But you need to be careful that the cat doesn't accidentally fall in...

Dog parks in the States have "pet toilets" or, at least, designated areas for Butch, my Rottie, to do his business.  Me?  I get to go behind a tree in the dog park.  Not fair.

I  suggest that a better idea to the Chinese "nouveau riche" that they should buy a nice ranch in the country or suburbs (hahahah) before they buy a dog or two or three, rather than adding a leashed dog to the unleashed rat and cat pet population.

A:Good question!  I'd say, if you study at Uni in China beside working full-time as an E.T. with Residence permit, you don't interfere with your full-time employment. It's your free time and you can do anything you want, with respect to the Chinese laws and customs. Have a look at terms of Z visa/Residence permit and ... ".. you cannot work (and earn monies!) with another employer ..."That's all it is! Your RP sponsor title is written on the RP stamp in your passport, I think. It's in Mandarin, so I've heard about that from someone ...At I.D.-ing by cops, they know where you work and than more details about you are just a phone call away ... and it happened in person ... LOL ... during the day-time stroll through Wulumuqi, Xinjiang, 2012/13 semester. Now under RP, you're free to surf Internet, jog, ... and study, too. I suggest, you look and ask at the Uni, you plan to study in the future. Have a detailed look at requirements for studying and attending chosen Uni.Good luck! -- icnif77
