So let's consider this a follow up from the last post on the funny fads... I didnt want to include the two topics in a single post because I like spreading the goods out. What's the most cringe worthy copy catting you've seen here?
I've got two answers. The first one was super cringe! I saw an official advertisement on the tv of a state news program.. I guess one of the CCTV channels. The theme music was super epic, and clips of the newscasters were all spliced together like they're heroic or something. The music: the theme song from Metal Gear Solid II Sons of Liberty. Wtf? Seriously?
Pirates of the Caribbean seems to be everywhere here too. I doubt anybody paid money to use it either.

The Shenzhen metro ads to warn people not to jump the barriers use the Super Mario theme song.

Using music of old video games is common in China. I heard Heroes Of Might And Magic III tunes often in CCTV shows. The tunes of that game were very easy to copy, they were plain MP3 files on the game's CD. No why.

The "next day" (or new day) first notes I guess?
Anyway, great game, awesome LANs back in the day.
Lord_hanson:
That game was amazing, why did my master gremlins die so easily.
DrMonkey:
He he... I played that game a lot too, I still have some tunes in my mind. The necromants where great for a blitz play style. Upgraded vampires and thousands of skeletons, steam rolling around . Gremlins, lol... How about the imps from the heretics ^^
Haha yeah, first thing that came to my mind, Pirate of the Caribbean.
i went to a new western restaurant that has copies of $100 dollars bills as napkins on the tables.
a college aerobics pe class for ladies was playing "one night in bangkok makes a hard man humble" with out the words just the music, i did not have the heart to tell them what the song is about, just enjoyed the scenery.

Ohh, Chinese are hoarding gold bullion because of the US$100 napkins.
You can get piles of fake US$ notes on any outdoor market in Xinjiang.
Maybe not a copycat things as much as it is Engrish, but I saw a beauty shop once that had an aisle titled: Public Welfare. I took a photo of it.
I think the best one I saw was an advert in a taxi advertising Tianjin docks. It has the imperial march music from Star wars playing as a large container ship entered the docks. Haha, it was just like a star destroyer. The nerd in me almost had a heart attack.
Speaking of Star Wars, I've seen quite a few Adidas items of clothing (usually sweat-shirts, etc) with various Star Wars themed things on them... and no, they have no idea what it's about :(
