I had rcvd a handwrittn letter way bck in 2006 n a greetin’ card in 2009.
Mailbox now gets spam advts, a rare bill (sometime) or bldg circulrs.
Technology has envelopd us, inbox has replacd mailbox, but still a gud old fashiond letter or card wud b a joy to receive.
Do u still get them (or send) ?
My sister still sends me letters from Scotland. Get about 2 a year. I don't write back. She has Facebook but no email. And she refuses to use wechat for some reason. She complains I don't post enough photos of the kid on Facebook. I tell her FB is banned, get wechat then she can see new photos multiple times a day. She won't do it. And she can comment instantly or chat.
In fact, last time I posted photos on FB I got an angry message from her demanding to know why I was in the UK and did not go to see her. Even though the photos were of China.
I sent a message back explaining how VPNs work, and that I was not on the UK at all.
To be honest, using the post is a pain in the arse. Using Facebook is a close second. While Wechat is easy, no matter where you are on the world.
My sister could have instant access via wechat. But she refuses to use it. She just has no concept of what it is like in China to access Facebook or use the Chinese post office.
Snail mail is fine if you live in a country with post boxes on street corners. But posting the "Chinese way" is just too much trouble.
seansarto:
It is probably because she knows that wechat is a state-run social network that advances the chinese agenda at the expense of the Western agenda which is inclusive of china...whereas the chinese agenda excludes Western agenda at the expense of the West.
ScotsAlan:
Granted that we chat is state monitored. For one thing, china knows more about what It's people eat for lunch than any other soverign state on earth. This could be where they developed their "eat less meat" agenda :-)
Curiousdude:
