Sign up with Google Sign up with FacebookQ: Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere (CS5) Sony Vegas and Mandarine Fonts Madness, HELP
I've never thought I would ask this question here but I'm desperate...
I have few projects lined and have big problems with Chinese fonts. I have Win 7 Enterprise with all lingo packs (about most of the world) have so many installed fonts that even with the fonts managers I'm getting lost.
Fonts stack is OK..There is no corruption possible.,(also have another win7 and the same story) Illustrator shows all the Chinese fonts on the drop down menu.and I have a lot of them..
but the end result is always the same, few characters will show X-box...Same with Premiere, and the Sony Vegas is a plain disaster...Corel do tiny bit better but i don't like Corel...not much there.. If I won't get help I will be forced to do tricks in the photoshop and that would take me moths to do.
google/baidu gave me no cigar... other gurus tell me that they have the same problems. I tried Adobe Forums, Web designer forums. with answers like these
Quote:
"I'm a mainlander Chinese, I can only refer to the computers in Central P.R China "
Another::
"The best ratio is 95%"
I've have another project coming up, translation done at the University of Beijing (BLCU)
and 95% ain't good enough for me.
I need a 100% success as it involves literature.
The only thing what I've found out is that the XP does much, much better..So Do I need to reinstall XP? 32 bit?
I've XP Pro 64 bit installed..but this ain't really XP as it is based on 2003 server..and here is the madness with the Graphic drivers..need to use modded drivers (*.inf) plus play with the registry and comp crashes constantly
(blue screens of death LOL)
The only other language that I had problems with was the Urdu..Never again I touch that.
Anyone?
BTW...i do this for free...no money here...that's why nobody else is interested doing it.

Assuming you are using unicode, your problem is incomplete fonts. Incomplete means that they do not have proper characters for every possible code.
Now, there is no point in just collecting more fonts, because you can only use one font at a time. Start looking for a high-quality chinese font with a character set as big and complete as possible.
Sorry for the late reply but I as hibernating.
@pogger34 and @the_horror
Photoshop, illlustrator see all the fonts because I count them..
Plus in few cases the final product will be a long video...no photoshop needed here.
Explain what X-Box means? well instead of the real font you see a dummy symbol.
It works differently, with various languages.. Greek for example..if you want to become fancy you need the real Greek fonts. otherwise you will see a rectangle or a question mark.
I think the_horror answer sounds most logical...
Thanks to both of you taking your time and replying to my question.
Going font shopping

Of course I use unicode...
I'm a Linux man...if not for the graphics I would never use "windblows" :)
