As I watch the RMB dwindle closer to 7 to 1 against the dollar as I sadly predicted during my contract negotiations I suspect by the end of 2017 it will hit 9 as China fights ever harder to save it's falling export economy. Someone please tell me I'm wrong. Along with any other predictions for the new year.

Mr Et-Ted, you are wrong! (because no why) You're welcome
I predict next year, I will eat shit with a spoon AND a smile at work everyday.
Hotwater:
That will be easier than eating it with chopsticks....especially if you've got laduzi!

I think there is a default setting that automatically gives me at least one for each comment. Cheers mate!
I think you might be right. And, as Beijing tries to control capital outflow sending money home will become more of a pain in the ass.
I also think the Trump will stir up the Chinese 'bigly' and foreigners living in China will bear the brunt of it.
This will make it even harder for schools and companies to recruit people to come and work here.
A guy somewhere in China will die because his nephew had a haircut within 30 days after Chinese New Year
through a stroke of a pen ,Trump will be bared from the White House
North Korea will do something nasty.
Global financial melt down.
And the biggest natural disaster since boxing day disaster.
Worst of all....New Zealand will turn off the lights because they all moved to Australia
Englteachted:
They better not with all the Chinese moving to New Zealand
AC/DC are not going to Stop and Angus will hire new people for the band then a new album
I read that today on facebook
Crop failure, starting with coffee crop. This will go beyond 2017. Coffee price will go up.
ISIS will fade out. In its place a smaller terrorist group will rise. Despite its smaller size it splinters off into many, many groups, much like cancer cells multiply.
PRC continues its trip back to hell. Karma at work.
I think the Shanghai, Shenzhen & HK stock market will be great next year, hoping for a fall or a short crash to buy into stocks at a low price than sell. Stock 300164 is been my best stock this year (oil)..
Next I hope to see the pound get stronger so I can sell it off after Brexit.
I am an American, but the dollar rate doesn't worry me as I am married here, bought a house here, so my life is here, no plans to return to Trump Land anytime soon.
I think less talent and less ESL workers will come here to work, as I do understand the dollar rate would hurt you a lot if you're investing back home in America. So I feel most teachers will not go through the whole deal just to become a teacher when there are many more choices, like Dubai, Korea or even Hong Kong.
I think they will tweak the whole A, B, C talent a few times before Sept 2017. I feel they will make it stricter by that time.
Key Worry for the world & China: Interest rates. (Wait & See)
if the federal reserve raises interest rates 2 or 3 times over the next year, capital will pour out of china any way it can and the rmb could be 8.4 next year this time.
this will depress wages and growth here so buying power for us vip's should still be ok.
China steals a USN UUV that's been deployed in the SCS.
D. Trump figures it's a good time to test the Minuteman III.

In the latest encounter in international waters in the South China Sea region, the USNS Bowditch was sailing about 100 miles off the port at Subic Bay when the incident occurred, according to the official.
The Bowditch (T-AGS 62) is a Pathfinder class oceanographic survey ship, a third ship in the class. The USNS Bowditch is a part of a 29 ship Special Mission Ship program and operates in the South China Sea. She is named after Nathaniel Bowditch. Bowditch was engaged in surveying at Tacloban shortly after typhoon Haiyan in advance of the Navy's Operation Damayan in an area known for its shifting hazards to navigation using its multi-beam contour mapping system.
Bowditch had stopped in the water to pick up two underwater drones. At that point a Chinese naval ship that had been shadowing the Bowditch put a small boat into the water. That small boat came up alongside and the Chinese crew took one of the drones.
The US got no answer from the Chinese on the radio when it said the drone was American property, the official said cited by CNN.
