That would be a huge section. How would it be moderated? How would the information be verified? Personally, I think it would be a big hairy can of worms.
crimochina:
you've been here too long why does it need to be moderated. free speech. we are all adults and we can sort opinions from facts. maybe even set something up to give the business an opportunity to respond. maybe i can run it, i need extra money. i will accept bribes from both sides
GuilinRaf:
" i will accept bribes from both sides". That is PRECISELY why we would need moderation AND why a school review section would be a total waste.
Actually school reviews are pretty useless. You don't know if I was fired for sleeping with underage girls and decided to complain about my school. You also don't know if random guy isn't a paid stooge who praises the school. Generally if you want to find the best jobs talk to people who have worked there in person. Anything else is subjective.
I think it would be a bad idea. I am already thinking if I were the competition, it would be too easy to trash a rival school. Indeed we wouldneed moderation, not as crimo seems ti imply, but in terms of verification and reliability.
I just think it would be more trouble than it would be woth.]
My advice, talk to teachers who actually worked or work there. They can give you the lowdown on the situation.
A few meetings in the presence of 'flexible' KTV girls, and I can say yes to just about anything. Not that I would do that, or anything. Just sayin'. Ya' know. Just 'cause.
IF we could trust that schools/businesses aren't planting their own cronies to talk up the school, or make up stories of utopia, I think it would be a good idea. Unfortunately, that would almost be impossible. There are several TEFL sites that allow for school reviews, you type in one school and get 100 responses, both bad and good. Often the bad ones are responded to, but you can't decide if it's... genuine, or if it's the school tryin to save face.
