I mean in a serious way to justify what is illogical or abnormal in the eyes of outsiders (non-Chinese people), not for joking.
Don't you think it is a sign of you becoming, if not more tolerant, then at lest accustomed to the illogical ways of the people of China ?
If you are saying "THIS IS F%&#%"/ CHINA" while all muscles in your body are tense, then perhaps worry, but if you say "ah, it's China baby" and shrug your shoulders, the I wouldn't worry. Just don't take it too far and start crapping in the streets and such.

I agree with you with the exception of your mentioning 'illogical ways'. There is usually certainly more than just one, 'correct' point of view :) .
In my opinion, no.
When you tell somebody that It's not justifying something, You're just telling them to understand that this is the way it is and won't change anytime soon so best just to accept that, whether we agree or not, Chinese people don't live the same way as us and that's just the way it is.
Kind of like if a kid asked you "why do people age?"
You would probably tell them that's just the way it is.
Scandinavian:
except, when "this is China", "why do people" questions are answered with "no why"
Stiggs:
Even then, it doesn't mean it's logical, it's just that here you will be be told 'no why' sometimes and that's as much of an answer as you'll get. It's just...this is China, it's the way it is.
I dont like the excuse This is China.its just seems like its an excuse just to do anything you want.you dont really give a shit about your own country.
I am going to run into you on my bike (this is China)
I m going to cheat you (this is China)
Im going to treat my baby as a pet (this is China)
and so on and so on
gouxiong:
I find this a good point even though I did not understand the original question in this way.
As a reason for your own outrageous behavior or as an explanation for the madness of the natives? First is bad; second is inevitable.
Friends and relatives who have been living in various African nations often tell me crazy stories, and then they say "This is Africa". I believe China is like that guy everybody know in town, because he is unique, and a meaning of unique that bring smiles and put eyes upwards.
I only use it as an excuse for kicking Persian emissaries down wells, after they accuse me of blasphemy and madness.
