I guess we have a nomination for the "2014 parenting awards"

Are there really no openly gay pop stars or celebrities who could do a bit of role modeling for the masses.

i second the nomination, do i hear a third.

I dont know. Not such a big deal. While not accepting, china is about a million times more tolerant of homosexuality than half of the countries on this planet.

If your largest fears and pressures are coming from your farmer parents and not from sodomy from police and persecution and violence from the government, and the other thousands of horrors you hear about in africa, the middle east, the carribean and even the southern states, well things arent too bad.

I take the article as a clear sign of progress towards tolerance.

I have friends who are a gay couple in Alabama and are accepted in their neighborhood. Ironically they said the last time they were called "faggots" was during a visit to New York City.

Yeah thats not surprising. There are great people and dicks everywhere, i meant southern states more as a generalisation people can recognize more than a slight.

I think the deal with the Chinese and homosexuality is just the practical concerns of not having kids. NOt like going to hell or anything.

I can imagine a guy coming out to his parents and the reply being like "It is a very foolish choice to marry a man. Surely you realize that only a woman can produce a child with you."

far cry from being disowned or fucking shunned/killed or something

I find the world wide attitude to being gay is very strange indeed.

I remember a few weeks back it made headline news in the UK that an Austrailian Olympic swimmer had come out as being gay.

Big deal I thought. Why is some dudes sexuality world headline news?

Scandinavian:

in some sports it might be relevant, although I can only think of Pole Sitting at the moment. ... Just like being a fat drunk seems to be important to darts

A:Good question!  I'd say, if you study at Uni in China beside working full-time as an E.T. with Residence permit, you don't interfere with your full-time employment. It's your free time and you can do anything you want, with respect to the Chinese laws and customs. Have a look at terms of Z visa/Residence permit and ... ".. you cannot work (and earn monies!) with another employer ..."That's all it is! Your RP sponsor title is written on the RP stamp in your passport, I think. It's in Mandarin, so I've heard about that from someone ...At I.D.-ing by cops, they know where you work and than more details about you are just a phone call away ... and it happened in person ... LOL ... during the day-time stroll through Wulumuqi, Xinjiang, 2012/13 semester. Now under RP, you're free to surf Internet, jog, ... and study, too. I suggest, you look and ask at the Uni, you plan to study in the future. Have a detailed look at requirements for studying and attending chosen Uni.Good luck! -- icnif77
