My wife is lovely and somewhat westernized in the ways of the world but when it pertains to food - game over!
Yesterday she wanted a sandwich....a ham and cheese sandwich to be exact...no problem.
I asked her what she wanted as condiments.
She replied, "some butter, mayonnaise and mustard."
No problem there, I began to make it. A few seconds later she said, oh Derek....please don't forget to TOAST the bread!
Dumbfounded, I proceeded to prepare a Toasted - Mustard - Ham and Cheese Sandwich!-
She sat at the computer and happily devoured that sandwich as I cringed.
Having said that, she is 7 months pregnant. So I guess there's no accounting for that taste.
Can any of you top that?
Have not tried it. But the chinese have brought out new chips which is chicken pepsi flavored.
BHGAL:
had one yesterday .... replace ham with canned tuna and added mayo .......... tuna, cheese, mustard and mayo...TOASTED........ Haven't found a good pickle to add to it Yet.
Seems like a normal sandwich to me. What is strange about it?
You have cheese?
derek:
Yes, ...yes, I do have the cheese you speak of. It's hidden in a safe place so don't even think of trying to steal it.
TedDBayer:
I'm home, got all the Kraft Cracker Barrel I need. Squeaky fresh cheese curd too.
my girlfriend eats toasted fried egg sandwich with peanut butter and thousand island salad dressing, she's not pregnant. YUK
I eat toast with strawberry jam and put egg on it. Fast breakfast.
To be honest I don't want to top that! Any of them! My daughter got to like those canned oysters squished onto a sandwich and to which I introduced her. I wasn't pregnant though. It's amazing what we concoct for a quick meal and a change of pace from Chinese tucker.
My wife: Toasted PB&J
My mother-in-law tried to make me a PB&J once. She thought that it was perfectly reasonable to steam it. She couldn't quite grasp why it fell apart on her.
derek:
My mother in law also steams sliced bread. I didn't know what to think the first time I saw that.
I saw a guy on the street in Ningbo with an ice cream in one hand and a chicken leg in the other, he was eating em together. For Chinese sweet n salty doesn't exist, its all the same
That sandwich sounds normal...
I once had a "Caesar salad" that only consisted of iceberg lettuce (oh the horror) and runny watered down honey mustard dressing.
As far as Local People are concerned, the most weird is drinking hot green tea to conclude the dinner just after having cold beer ..
I like eating Mexican rice with bananas. It's delicious but when I tell people about it, they make a yucky face. ;p

I have for many years eaten peanut butter and tomato sandwiches. Love them.
hmm I used to love tuna, prawn and cheese sandwiches,
one of my former neighbours in the UK used to like malt vinegar sandwiches,
In Germany pommes rot weis was one of the kids favourites, fries with ketchup AND mayo, (looked awful, tasted ok)
and one I was told about my grandmother (who died when I was still a baby), she loved fresh strawberry and sugar sandwiches.
People back home eat watermelon and feta cheese together....supposed to be good.
I don't think I can...I wouldn't even mix jam and butter LOL
Monterey:
I love that combo. Even having it with some crusty white bread on the side rocks
Once, in China, I ordered a fruit salad. It was fruit with actual salad dressing on it. Disgusting.
Nessquick:
yes, same here, fruit salads with some disguisting sweet dressing :(
Thinking in reverse - you should have seen the looks we got when we sat in the office eating a lovely mixed green salad for lunch one day. "What is that? Eeeeeww...."
Xpat.John:
Everyone knows that green is evil. But I really shouldn't talk, I love chocolate pudding & sliced peaches.
Jnusb416:
I think salad is gross anyway, I can't stand lettuce. However I have no problem with eating other green veggies, as long as they're cooked.
I still love, since i was a child, bread with Nutella and 2-3 slices of Ham on it. Yummyyyy I really miss it.
I just came back, from Starbucks.
Got my loved ceasars chicken wrap, which was perfect as always.
I also add an Tuna sandwich. when i open it, i got mad. wtf, from which time the tuna sandwich have to be loaded with 1kg of mayonaise ?
