If you sign up for a group tour, sometimes it can be cheaper. What I like about group tours is you don't have to trouble yourself with some of the arrangements. You just show up, sit and listen to the tour guide.

And if it's a tour for more than a day, you don't have to worry about arranging accommodation.

Sorry, I have never used a travel agency. But in Guangzhou I see a lot of offices for CTS travel agencu, Nanhu travel agency, etc. Maybe check those? Have fun in HK and Macau!

Hong Kong and Macau are pretty easy to visit without a tour group. Macau you can pretty much get around on foot and Hong Kong has excellent public transport. If you do some planning from home, figure out what you want to see then it is pretty easy to do.

You will need to check if you need visa for Hong Kong/Macau, this depends on what assport you hold.
