Sign up with Google Sign up with FacebookQ: travel around China while my passport is at police
Hello everyone,
Does anyone know if it is possible to take a domestic flight with that receipt paper from police stating that my passport is beign processed for a residence permit? Can I take a plane only with that paper and a passport copy??? I got some problems in the past while entering a train station with that document, even though a local police told me it is valid for railway journey. So, just want to double check. Thank you for your answers in advance

The resident permit receipt is ABSOLUTELY fine for planes, trains & hotels. It's your ID while your RP is being processed.
Stupid question for you though...why are you traveling from Dakian to Nanjing for your RP extension? Your RP is supposed to be issued in the city where you work. Sounds suspiciously to me like you're technically working illegally. I'd be more concerned about that if I was you...
Hard to really say for sure because it will probably come down to how an individual person decides to interpret and apply the rule.
The other thing you need to think about is where will you be staying if you are able to travel? If it's in a hotel you will need to register with the PSB - the hotel does that on your behalf assuming they are able to. They will need your passport, they photocopy your front page and visa ( I think).
I am only flying there for a day to apply for a residence permit extension, will go back the same day by train. Just wanted to save time and take a plane (Nanjing-Dalian), Would like to hear back from someone who had that kind of experience.
Do you have your FEC? I've never tried it myself but I have friends who have used this for domestic flights in conjunction with the piece of paper from the PSB.

Hotwater, thank you for your reply and your concern about my legal work status in China))). I am currently working in Nanjing and will be changing my work place for Dalian, that is why I need to apply for a new RP there. I only needed a reply regarding travellng by plane with that receipt, not more than that.
