Are their preferred designs similar to our in the west ("tramp stamps" and "misspelled chinese characters" , etc.), or do they have a different taste in ink?

After my visit, I heard many are getting tats that say " Ted was Here "
I live in a small city, and I know there is a tattoo parlor here. I haven't seen many tattoos though. If people are getting them, I don't see them. I don't think getting a tattoo here would be "trendy."
Im going to start a panda tattoo trend when I go. They will see mine and say how cute and want one of their very own. I will have all of Chengdu tooed in Pandas!!!
You have a mixture of tatoo styles. There are a few older people who have the leftover classic style tats that were a symbol of criminal/gang/triads back in the day. You also have in the bigger more modern cities lots of young men and ladies who are getting the smaller more modern stylized type designs.
I saw quite a few women with tatoos on their shouder or upper arm. Usually kind of a tribal design or flower. And one girl had a dragon on her bisep.
