Q: Visa issue (again)
well now, its come time to get a new visa.
my current visa is a residency permit from Wuhan and I hold a foreign expert certificate from Wuhan.
I went into the Hangzhou visa place today to change to an L visa.
I was told to go away and get proof of cancelation of Expert certificate. (which I dont have)
My last school was with NDI and while I paid for all the costs involved I left at the end of the 3 month trial period.
I have contacted NDI many many times to get a release letter and even send them a few copys of ones just to stamp. they have ignored my calls and pushed my onto someone else before finely being given to someone who didnt even work and NDI.
So, how can I get around this? has anyone else experanced the same problem or is it HZ being a pain?
perhaps if I went to Wuhan or Hefei or someone I could switch to a L visa without any questions asked?
any help would be great (also im on a budget and cant afford to head to HK for the time it takes to get a visa)
thanks all

this is really a embarassing situation. They always ask this letter. Unless you leave China and get new visa from abroad. ..
This is a simple process on the schools part. Your problem is New Dynamic Institute (NDI). I had some problems with them in Chengdu getting my Letter of Release and 6,000 RMB airfare when I left two years ago after completing a one-year contract. It boiled down to the local HR Manager not wanting to do her job.
When I threatened to go to the Chengdu Labor Bureau and contact their HQ in Wuhan, she got off her ass and did her job.
I would suggest taking the same action, or just deal with Wuhan HR Department directly and advising them you will take this to the local Labor Bureau where you worked. I would do it calmly, however, leave no doubt you will NOT accept any delays since this is legally their job.
Good Luck!
Thanks for the advice guys. I eneded up going to HK to get it sorted. Had a really good time and am glad I went.
BUT lessen learnt. NEVER again work for NDI. they seem to be a pain. for many people..
I did contact the Wuhan HR department but they kept passing the buck until someone just said it wasnt their problem and hung up. had my wife call up and was told someone would call her back, she called up every day for a week. never got a call back...
NDI seem to be one of the worse companys here to work for...
Think I will post of ESL website telling people to stay away.
mind you I also have a problem with new oriental after just a couple of days LOL.
as a visa consultant, have met lots of this kind of papers problem. before you get out of their contract, it is better to get all of the papers (release letter & the cancelation of Expert certificate ). if you come to them when you realize you need it, that is too late.
