Q: visa problems for my family

On 11th November I applied for a family visit visa for both my wife and son at the British Consulate. My wife has visited the UK before with no problems but this time they still haven't contacted us. I myself am a British citizen. They should have contacted us by now whether the application was accepted or denied. It is really starting to stress me out as we are supposed to travel on the 20t Jan. Is there any way to contact them? When I call the consulate it just takes me to a damn machine. I want to speqk to a human being and find out good or bad what is happening. Has anyone had this kind of experience before?

Have you tried email? The Canadian consulate in guangzhou sais it will get back to you within 3 working days and in all my years they have gotten back faster than that every time.

You can also talk to the machine and leave a message and they have always called me back.

I thought you could track the status of the application through the website? I'm amazed it's taking this long. They claim >95% of applications dealt with in Guangzhou within 15 days.
