I payed $5 per month for my own website domain & hosting service.  Never had to worry about it getting blocked unless I started posting lots of anti-China stuff.

I use Wordpress to host my blog. It has free hosting for wordpress domains names.

Wordpress also have ads for approved custom domains, in competition to Google ads, So if you get enough traffic, you can make enough money to at least pay for the domain name and hosting.

I started posting to a blog service I found hidden on this site a few weeks ago (it's in the community section i think?). It's been okay so far. It's still a bit wonky and the interface is thrown-together looking, but it's free and hasn't been censored yet. Hopefully Echinacities will make it look better in the future (hint hint admin).
