Q: What could let border officials deny your entry into China?
if I have a valid residence permit and work permit, is there a chance I could be denied entry into the country?
I amplanning to travel internationally.
PS: I had a criminal record in China ( for a fight that happened three eyars ago). But I managed to get a work permit and residence permit after that.

your 'questions' have a common thread going through them.
if you have experienced problems or had any brush with the law while in China if i were you, once out of China i would wipe the dust off and never return.
in my experience Chinese, especially those with any authority, are wimsical and unpredictable, and as interpretaion of the law is fluid, there are no guarentees as to how any border control official will deal with you if you have criminal record, no matter how minor.
I'd say, PSB would be the place to aks ... about ... restrictions at re-entry to China.
I suggest, you don't put up a fight at PSB doesn't matter what they'll say ...

If you have a WP/RP you 'should' be ok, but then these are strange times.
I would pack a box with stuff you wouldn't want to lose ( laptop, important documents etc) and leave it with someone trustworthy to send to you on the offchance you aren't able to get back into the country.
