Q: what do eye glasses cost in China

I want a spare pair of glasses, a good set. My last prescip cost $550 and my dog chewed them a couple of days later another $350. My insurance provider gave me a site for cheap glasses and I tried to order them,,, $62 including shipping,,, but they won't arrive before I leave, so I tried having them shipped to China,. for some reason the sale won't go through. I phoned them , the glasses come from China and they have no idea why I can't ship on line. What are bifocals worth in China?

A decent pair should not cost more than 200 Yuan (including frame), Unless you go for name brands or designer pairs. I have found that the places inside the university campuses have reasonable prices and there is less chances of getting zipped( just because someone is a foreigner), since they cater to the students needs. The lenses for the glasses by themselves come pretty cheap. At one place inside our university, the highest pair of lenses(I used my old frame)cost 120 yuan with all the bells and wistle they had to offer.

A:I had a similar experience in HK. If I recall correctly, before or at the Z visa application, I had to submit ME from the ordinary HK clinic, where I explained why I need ME and I asked them to examine only necessary things (I don't remember the cost ...), and then ... I got Z stamp and when back in China, I had to complete another RP ME, which was on the employer, i.e. included in the Contract ...We've never discussed refund of payment for HK ME with my employer. Year 2013 ...I'd say, that is a regular thingy embassies around the world require, before issuing visas for LT stay in the country. "Vladimir Vladimiro-Witch ras-Putin" (LOL@your pronunciation ..) demands the same thingy before granting LT stay in Ruski.  ... Haa, 2013 was the Snowden's year. I was in Kowloon at the time of his landing .. with all these files ... I'm-Still-in-LMAO-State ... Cost for the ME in HK was around HK$ 2000/200 EUR, and ME was kind of swift, quicker and way shorter than on the mainland ... -- icnif77
