I have sent many to USA, and was never asked for ay documentation on the goods or myself.
A few things that will expedite your package will be to add the word "England" (UK) in Mandarin Characters to the "TO" address. Also to learn what is allowed to be shipped abroad, and do not lie on Customs declaration form because they do check, and run the risk of getting your package confiscated. It will also help to bring the box to China Postal Office opened, and they will inspect and seal it there. And of course, learn options available for shipping, you may need an interpreter with you on the first few visits.
You need to check what is not allowed to send.
Depends on how many goods you need to send, prepare packing list and invoice.
as the above posters have said, check the list of prohibited goods that you can not post.
your package will be examined thoroughly before being sealed: make sure it is sealed in your presence.
you will be asked to put a monetary value on the goods being posted - i would not recommend posting anything of high value.
I always include a detailed list of the contents in the package.
if what you are trying to send out of China is of high value, find another way to get it out of the country.
