Q: What happens if you get fired

If you quit you need a letter of release

If you get fired what are the steps to get another job while in china or after going back to your country.

If your employment is terminated for any reason your company/school is required by law to provide you with a letter of release. If you get fired and your employer wants to get vindictive, he might try to delay or withhold this. In such a case, you should contact your local branch of SAFEA who will force your employer to provide you with the required documentation. You can use these documents to transfer your Residence Permit to a new employer. This can all be done without leaving China.

Anonymous,

If you get fired than forget about the China Foreign Teacher's Union (CFTU ) helping you even before the recruiter-hackers made a mockery of that cherished organization.

Before they were disbanded by the recruiter-hackers, the CFTU was a strong advocate of low salaries in order to maintain employment. I remember an article on CleverChinaCheaters.com where their spokesman said "When negotiating for a job, ask the employer what they're offering. 16,000? Tell him to cut it in half. 8,000? Tell him to cut it in half again. 4,000 RMB/mth is the maximum any teacher should be earning if they want to go to China Foreign Teacher Heaven (CFTH). The less the better. It encourages humility and cuts down on profanity and high-living. Employers want good, simple folk working for them. Simple of thought, light of wallet, right of deed. That's the CFTU way."

In those days, if someone was fired, it was considered tantamount to desertion and cowardice. Members would face a court-martial and likely a firing squad. It's like Jalen Rose always says "Don't get fired." The same system today is used to keep Wumaos working hard on forums.

RiriRiri:

How on earth could the recruiter-hackers bring down the secure peer-to-peer CFTU portal?!!

There's no stopping them!

Oh yeah it's brutal.

I can't remember if it was in The Wall Street Journal or on China Scam Busters (before the recruiter-hackers reduced it to some amateurish BS site) but i read that Recruiter-Hackers are one of the top emerging threats to the local economy.

It's creepy right? You walk along the street and any one of those people could be a recruiter-hacker. A sobering thought.

A:Good question!  I'd say, if you study at Uni in China beside working full-time as an E.T. with Residence permit, you don't interfere with your full-time employment. It's your free time and you can do anything you want, with respect to the Chinese laws and customs. Have a look at terms of Z visa/Residence permit and ... ".. you cannot work (and earn monies!) with another employer ..."That's all it is! Your RP sponsor title is written on the RP stamp in your passport, I think. It's in Mandarin, so I've heard about that from someone ...At I.D.-ing by cops, they know where you work and than more details about you are just a phone call away ... and it happened in person ... LOL ... during the day-time stroll through Wulumuqi, Xinjiang, 2012/13 semester. Now under RP, you're free to surf Internet, jog, ... and study, too. I suggest, you look and ask at the Uni, you plan to study in the future. Have a detailed look at requirements for studying and attending chosen Uni.Good luck! -- icnif77
