Q: What happens when international flight is cancelled at Chinese airport?

A lot of flights have been cancelled in Beijing because of the heavy fog so I was wondering if the affected passengers can take an alternative flight for no extra cost, or do they have to buy a new flight?

If they paid for a ticket, they will be rescheduled on the next available flight.  But depending on how many people are waiting for seats, it could take days for all the affected people to get on a plane.

it depends on how you booked it and whether it's  connecting flight. if it's a connecting flight and you booked the tickets separately then you'll be screwed if you miss the connecting flight you will have to pay the extra fees. each airline or online travel service has their own policies regarding cancelations. some will reschedule it, others will allow you to get your money back. (in full) also depends on your ticket and whether or not you purchased the insurance. check the policy before booking.  but if you booked all flights together you will incurr no expenses as far as the tickets go.

About two years ago, I had such a situation. I was supposed to take Jet Blue at 2 am and connect on New York with Cathay Pacific 9:40.  Jet blue did not take off until 7 so naturally I missed my flight. Had to pay for a full ticket on Cathay P and Jet blue would not take any responsibilty.
The red tape was astounding and nothing was ever solved.

A:Good question!  I'd say, if you study at Uni in China beside working full-time as an E.T. with Residence permit, you don't interfere with your full-time employment. It's your free time and you can do anything you want, with respect to the Chinese laws and customs. Have a look at terms of Z visa/Residence permit and ... ".. you cannot work (and earn monies!) with another employer ..."That's all it is! Your RP sponsor title is written on the RP stamp in your passport, I think. It's in Mandarin, so I've heard about that from someone ...At I.D.-ing by cops, they know where you work and than more details about you are just a phone call away ... and it happened in person ... LOL ... during the day-time stroll through Wulumuqi, Xinjiang, 2012/13 semester. Now under RP, you're free to surf Internet, jog, ... and study, too. I suggest, you look and ask at the Uni, you plan to study in the future. Have a detailed look at requirements for studying and attending chosen Uni.Good luck! -- icnif77
