11 years 2 weeks ago in Relationships - China
Same with Scandinavian. And also the ones that have been here a while and have a sense of "I know more about China than you" superiority about them.
I don't TRY and avoid anyone, although my lifestyle means I rarely mix with the party types in general and other expats in particular.
I don't enjoy expat cliques / communities, I hated them when I lived in other nations they were so insular and often racist, I just couldn't handle their superior condescending attitudes. I don't know if the expat communities in China are different because as I said, our lifestyles are such that we don't meet but from what I've read on here, they probably are similar.
I don't give a hoot about age, or if someone looks "weird." Most can't control their appearance, so it's unfair to judge that way, especially when I look like a damn weirdo myself!
I basically avoid Skirt chasers, druggies, drunks and party-goers, just like back home..
Not so much on here but the ones who just want to whinge about this, that and everything when they are out in the bar. That is my time for turning off from bad China days and I do not appreciate my cold beer being disturbed with other people's woes.

I think it's more fun to laugh about China than to whinge about it.
The hypocrite ones who would hold back and only say nice things in front of the locals but trash-talk them behind their back, while thinking they are superior than others.
The only one I deliberately avoided was a guy who stank of beer, bragged about his successful company in China, and begged me to get him a job at my school. All in a 10 minute conversation.
I would never hang-out with someone who had such poor taste as to hang-out with me.
Those who have nothing interesting to say. But that applies to all nationalities.
Seriously, boring conversations make me want to kill myself, and that's not a metaphor nor an exaggeration. They really do.
Beaufs too. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beauf)
Newbies and Haters, Newbies because they always think that China is the bright new toy until they get crapped on and become haters, and haters because they hate it here but continue to work or live here.

there are lots of people who are here , because , in a way , they see themselves forced to. You must have heard how bad thing are in many European countries ?
The one's that do drugs that won't be able to help you get further in life...(!
He he, I said: "drugs"!
Those who come here and act rude to locals because they think they are superior to everyone else, and those who come here and have no interest to mingle or get to know the culture here and prefer to hang out exclusively in Western circles. I also can't stand people who come here and say they don't like Chinese food even though they probably only ever had one Chinese meal here.
