For me it was buying an oven. I suggest every foreigner to do so. We got one big enough to cook two chickens, two 10 inch pizzas (stacked) or a full roast. It was just 550 kuai on taobao. I recco it to everyone. Something about being able to make a roast on a Sunday night just makes you feel so comfortable.
A toaster, breakfast so much better and black tea and toast great. But like you say an oven for roasts and also can use it as a grill
We bought a clothes dryer. After taking my wife to the States, she was hooked. Now, I don't have to hang them, and can even dry clothes on a rainy day, which lately, there has been plenty of!

You bet! Those hung dried clothes are as stiff as tree bark! Me love Downy!!
My coffee pot, certainly is a must....along with my iron and .......wait for it........ironing board! I crank up the tunes and get at it when I'm bored in the evenings. Good times! My wife and her mother don't understand why I bother to iron anything, let alone my dress shirts.
