Q: What's the best blog site to write from China?

Turns out I'll be returning to China sooner than expected! This time around I want to keep a day to day blog of my travels for the friends back home, but I haven't got a clue which blog sites work from China.

Anyone have some tips on what the best sites are to write from China?

If you can read Chinese, then Sina might be a good choice.  But the big western blog sites tend to get blocked every now and then.  So if you don't have a good VPN, that can be a problem when it comes to you updating your blog.
A decent option might be for you to get your own domain & blog site.  A domain name costs around $10-15 per year and a website costs around $6-10 per month.  Personally, I always consider this the best option for flexibility.

If you want a platform that isn't subject to being blocked and unblocked regularly then Sina is your best bet, even though I think it's probably the clunkiest and glitchy blogging site out there. If you've got a VPN then hit up wordpress if you want a more professional look. You could try Blogger but since it's owned by Google it's almost always blocked. Buying a domain didn't keep my wordpress site from being blocked so...yeah. Just get yourself a decent VPN and save yourself the headache from dealing with Sina.

A:Good question!  I'd say, if you study at Uni in China beside working full-time as an E.T. with Residence permit, you don't interfere with your full-time employment. It's your free time and you can do anything you want, with respect to the Chinese laws and customs. Have a look at terms of Z visa/Residence permit and ... ".. you cannot work (and earn monies!) with another employer ..."That's all it is! Your RP sponsor title is written on the RP stamp in your passport, I think. It's in Mandarin, so I've heard about that from someone ...At I.D.-ing by cops, they know where you work and than more details about you are just a phone call away ... and it happened in person ... LOL ... during the day-time stroll through Wulumuqi, Xinjiang, 2012/13 semester. Now under RP, you're free to surf Internet, jog, ... and study, too. I suggest, you look and ask at the Uni, you plan to study in the future. Have a detailed look at requirements for studying and attending chosen Uni.Good luck! -- icnif77
