Q: whats up with the car plate numbers in china? 京A-8888 湖 B-8888?

if you see a luxary car or a good looking ride here in china you will find out that 99% of those cars licence plate number are in serial numbers like 京 J 8888. here in china if you want to know a rich person look at his/her car plate number if its in series like 1111, 2222, 3333, 5555, 6666, 7777, 8888 or 9999 then u know the person paid a huge amount of money for the plate number. chinese people dont like the number 4 because its sounds like si 四 4 “si 死 ” means to die in chinese. next time you see a car in china check the car plate number and you will find out that 99. 9 % of those cars dnt come with the number 4, its rare to see 4 on a private car plate number. some chinese dnt believe this si 死 like some taxi drivers dnt mind having a plate number with 4 on it. chinese say ba 八: 8 is the best number in china. lol whats your best number?

Obioma, it is not "plant number", but plate number.

That aside, the number to have in a license plate is 8.  Next to 8, it will be six, sometimes nine.

My favorite number (because it was my mother's favorite) will be "7", but if you can keep a secret, privately I do favor 8 over 7.

HappyExPat:

Hey, my mother was also born on the 7th, in February of 1923. Great woman, marrid to the same man for 57 years, and a happy household. Many thanks for your kind words, I truly do not deserve it, I just try hard to give complete replies, only to those questions I do know some answers.

A: No, it's not allowed to work under RP at 2nd job! I'd say, Z visa
A:No, it's not allowed to work under RP at 2nd job! I'd say, Z visa/RP sponsor can have an objections to your part-time job. I did the same at my English teaching in China and elsewhere, butT ... I casually mentioned at my prime job, some kindergarten or another school asked me to work with them part-time. Then, my Q: "Is that permitted?" ...  Answer from RP sponsor was always "Yes, but you can't be late or miss the classes at our school ..." with my reply: "No, our work schedule has a priority, and I'll arrange classes at kindergarten only in my free time." When I cleared that, I was undertaking any extra teaching hours at other schools and private students in my free time.Sometimes, teachers at my prime job asked me if I'm willing to have some extra classes elsewhere.I accepted after the talk with School's principal. I suggest, you test the felling at your Z/RP sponsor and once you see they don't object, you can work at 2nd job. Keeping your 2nd job as a secret from your employer won't work, 'cause you're laowai and Chinese know exactly what you do in your free time. However, despite your employer's agreement for extra work, you are still in violation of Chinese Labour law, and even if your sponsor agrees to your extra work, you can still get in trouble, because it's clearly written (somewhere ... ) that under Z/WP, one can work only at the Z-sponsor and nowhere else. Penalties ... I'd say, there won't be any warnings and you'll be required to exit China in short Exit time.It never happened to me, so I can't really advice how is when manure hits the fan ...  -- icnif77
