Q: What's the most reliable email provider to use in China?

Gmail and yahoo both suck in China. I don't know if hotmail or outlook are any better but I'd rather not use a Chinese email provider like 163.

Hotmail works all day long for me.  Can't really worry about the gov't snooping in on your emails.  I just know hotmail works 99.9% of the time for me.

One thing for sure, it's definitely not yahoo... The one that always opens is hotmail, never had an issue with that. But I've read that hotmail's spam filter and so doesn't work as well compared to yahoo's and gmail's.

I use sympatico, which uses Hotmails servers. My account was hacked and I lost it for 6 months. It did not matter what questions I answered, Hotmail said I still couldn't prove it was my account. It wasn't until I got after Bell that I got it back.

A: Chinese are generally pretty tolerant friendly and accepting whatever
A:Chinese are generally pretty tolerant friendly and accepting whatever foreigners do.  I spent 15 years in China but I wouldn't say there are that many don'ts....Don't assume that many people speak English though and learn some Chinese. Don't speak much about politics unless you want to praise Chinese system.  -- Natalie363
