I've been accused on this site of being a 'wumao'. I know what five mao is in terms of currency, but i'm not familiar with internet speak. Would someone please tell me what it means?
Enough with the witch hunt people...reminds me of the McCarthyism of the 50's.
Not everyone is a freakin wumao people...what has everyone been smoking?
thedude:
There's a difference between being a dick and a wumao...that's all I'm saying.
Gaohao:
So i'm a dick, but i'm not a wumao? Thanks a lot! Care to clarify?
thedude:
Actually I did not not say that...if you picked up the context of my comment.
A paid poster, paid by the organs to post far-right nationalist drivel. They are rumored to be paid .5 per post. hence the name.
Someone who spreads internet propoganda, defends China relentlessly, and tries to make other countries look bad. It's rumored the gov. pays people 5 mao per post.
Gaohao:
Ohh, ok, I assumed it meant a Chinese person who is pretending to be a foreigner. Something i've also been accused of.
Haha, thanks for telling me. Seems a bit sad that China bashing is so common and accepted a practice that someone who is able to say something positive about the place, or chooses to bitch privately when he chooses to bitch rather than on a public website, should be labeled a professional propagandist. (Is that a word? Propagandist? "His propagandist moonlighted as a paedeatrician." Yeh, it's a word).
Thanks anyway:)
giadrosich:
@ Gaohao: It's not necessarily someone who is pretending to be a foreigner, but can be a obvious Chinese national. Just someone who always tows the "party line," so to speak, and always exhorts the virtues of China in any circumstance.
Do people get paid for constant China bashing on this site? What are they called? Patriots, perhaps!!
Gaohao:
I dunno but I remermber Oscar Wilde said that 'patriotism is the virtue of the vicious'. Maybe China bashing is the past-time of the stupid.
giadrosich:
And maybe calling it "bashing" is simply an attempt to redefine words according to definitions which give the appearance of being worst than they are (Aldous Huxley called the practice "double-speak"). Very few people here "bash" China. They complain about things they don't like, a right which many Chinese seem to try and claim exclusively, as in "only nationals can criticize the motherland. People from elsewhere, can't."
You want to call it bashing, go right ahead. I'll call it by its proper name.
Are you kidding? You go on and pretend to be some oh so erudite Chinese scholar who's been in China for years and you've never heard this?
Admin, can we block people?
Gaohao:
Don't pretend to be anything mate. Scholar, you're kidding. Erudite, don't even know what the word means. And wumao, nope, i'd vever heard of it before. Like I said, just had a kid, started going online more as i'm at home a lot now. You're getting tiresome.
nevermind:
Oh, I'M getting tiresome?
Why don't you go back to kissing the commies' asses, it's all you're good for.
It's been asked before. http://answers.echinacities.com/node/52150
Are wumaos "aloud" to admit wumaos exist?
tell me gaohao what do you think of the young girl that was forced to have an abortion by the govt? and then the villagers targeted her family calling her a traitor for making it public. what are your thoughts on that?
Gaohao:
It's abhorent, criminal behaviour, but it doesn't give me the right to attack an entire race. That's racism and i'll have no part of it and will always speak out against it.
Personally I believe people are the same wherever you go. (Haha, I think that's a line from 'Ebony and Ivory' in fact, but don't worry, i'm not about to break into song). It seems to be an unpopular belief, but one doesn't choose one's beliefs, they are formed through experience.
Who was that American president who said "All men are created equal"? (Haha, you might take my ignorance on that as further proof that i'm not who I say I am, but that's not the case; i'm just not particularly well educated). Anyway, I take that statement quite literally. I think it's dangerous to focus on our differences as they are so many. It's like the 'ten thousand things' Lao Tsu spoke of that so many people choose to focus on rather than focus on what unifies people.
It's my own naive point of view and i'm entitled to it, as you are entitled to disagree with it, and we are entitled to verbally thrash and moan about it, and so on, ad infinitum.
I've got a line saved for when I get verbally, racially attacked by a Chinese person one day (fortunately that has not happened to me yet, though I did once overhear an old man on a bus tell his grand-daughter that all foreigners were bad) and it goes: 不是每一个外国人都一样。不是每一个德国人都是希特勒。不是每一个中国人都是江青。Dunno how good your Chinese is but the meaning is, 'every foreigner is not the same. Not every German is Hitler. Not every Chinese person is Jiangqing'. (Jiangqing was some right bitch from Chinese history apparently. Don't know her myself, it's just a name my wife told me that fit to what I wanted to say).
So anyway, that's my two cents worth. I didn't join this site to have slanging matches with you or anyone, and I didn't join it to big up China. I just say what I want to say, just like you. Peace.
Gaohao:
Yeh, I thought so, wasn't sure. Right cow anyway, that's what I hear.
crimochina:
hahaha
gaohao : what the hell are you talking about? you claim to be from Brit but you use american colloquial phrases. confused mate mate mate mate mate mate
crimochina:
nevermind: what account does his posts remind you of? this one is a clear example. random BS with odd facts and quotes thrown in. and he didn't answer my question because he is not allowed to speak on such issues. hahahahahaha
gaohao: tell your superiors to drop the restrictions. mate mate mate mate . your game plan is the same
crimochina:
you claim to be from brit so why should you know about american presidents? (chinese thinking "foreign countries are all the same")
crimochina:
just had my coffee: seriously when and where did i ever attack the chinese race. 99% of the problems we see in china stem from the govt. ignorance , rude behavior, inhumanity, hyper competition, stagnation, etc. look at hong kong look at T..wen. chinese people as a race are capable of great things. but main land china is what it is because of their govt. what do you think of that? who is to blame for nthe problems faced by chinese people? answer that gaohao.
Gaohao:
I agree with you entirely, the government is always the problem. I have no love or respect for the Chinese government, American government, British government, any government, I believe they are all inherently corrupt.
As for me being a wumao, I have told you, you are right, whatever you say is right, I am not from London, I am Chinese, I am working for the government promoting Chinese propaganda, it is true, it is all completely true, you do not need to seek psychiatric treatment at all, I am paid five mao a pop to spread the word for my Communist brothers, it is true, in five hundred years I will be able to afford a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich, yes, yes, it is all true, and your girlfriend 'Nevermind', she has fingered me too (ooh!), she has uncovered my identity, neither of you are morons, neither of you is the waste of toilet paper it would have taken to alter your conception to a wank, you are both gifted detectives and I salute you.
And now, you do not need to bother me again.
nevermind:
Yeah, I'm not sure of the user's name off the top of my head, but there was a guy who came on here like him not too long ago.
And Gaohao.... people in glass moron houses shouldn't throw stones. You are clearly not that bright as evidenced by your ignorance and avoidance of answer questions... topped of with you going back on statements when pressured.crimochina:
wait so all govts have exactly the same problems? that is exactly the commies propaganda line. whenever you point at their problems they claim all govs are bad . Not the case in Germany, Francem Switzerland, Norway, Sweden,
WUMAO FAIL!!!!
Gaohao:
I see what this really is, you are actually a young girl 'pretending' to be a man and you go online to attack strangers because you're angry with your father. I'm right aren't I? You and Nevermind are the same person, you use one identity to give support to the other but actually both identities are the same frightened little girl. My guess is that you are about 14, going through puberty and having a difficult time of it, your face all spotty and none of the boys like you. You poor, dear child, it's ok, I understand, it's ok to be angry, there there, shhhh, shhhhh.
crimochina:
now he is getting completely off topic. hahahaha and you called me a little girl with your other account many moons ago!!!!!! come up with some new material when you use a new account. and girls don't go through puberty !!!!!!!!!!!
WUMAO FAIL FAIL FAIL !! MATE MATE MATE MATE MATE
Gaohao:
Do you know what? If I close my eyes I think I can just see you, leaning over your computer, a manic, slightly deranged but ultimately challenged look upon your face, a line of drool hanging from your mouth and almost reaching the keyboard as you spit furiously your venom and bitterness into your computer screen. This is a game of 'getting the last word in' isn't it? Well i'm going to give it to you. Good luck, and I do believe you might benefit from some form anger management therapy. I mean that sincerely. Keep your answer brief though as I think you'll be the only one reading it.
crimochina:
gaohao: every BS post you make like "no graffiti in china.." "graffitti best thing to come out of the USA .." you're gonna see WUMAO FAIL! no matter which account you use.
siyingyuan:
what does MATE mean? I'm confused. I know what does that mean in dictionary, but why does Crimochina keeps putting it at the end of his posts?
crimochina:
siying:: one of the reasons i started to suspect gaohao as not british is because he over used the word "mate" . many chinese posters who try to pass themselves off as an expat will over use some words in order to try and sell the idea they are a foreigner. they also create a silly back story to sell themselves as a foreigner. when i post i want to sell others on the idea that i am smart.
did you get it?
siyingyuan:
thank you for explaining why do you use MATE. but still what does MATE mean? in what circumstances I may use that word? sorry, i learned my English in canada and canadians dont use MATE.
crimochina:
mate means friend. it is commonly used in brit and aus. but it is not used exclusively.
Enough with the witch hunt people...reminds me of the McCarthyism of the 50's.
