Q: Where can I find typical Chinese/Tibetan furniture in Beijing?

Ideally, I would like to be able to buy it and then have it shipped to the USA. Any ideas on how to do this?

I've seen Tibetan-style furniture for sale at Panjiayuan Antique Market at one of the shops lining the market square. You would probably have to take someone Chinese with you to bring down the price otherwise they'll totally rip you off.

Buying Trip in Shanghai city on Chinese Antique Furniture

--- Written by Philip Bruce Tetrick on May 27, 2011

After about a 45 minute taxi ride, our first furniture vendor, Royal (the English name he has taken), greeted us at an intersection in his part of the metropolis and then drove us in his van to his furniture warehouse. His warehouse offered us rows and rows of stacked furniture to choose from.  Not being air conditioned, the place was hot, humid, dimly lit and dusty; ah, warehouse shopping in Shanghai. Hand-selecting our furniture is very important to us and we think to our customers. This process allows us to inspect each piece by seeing and touching, looking inside drawers, testing finishes, accessing the craftsmanship and to ask questions from the suppliers. We have rejected many pieces because they didnot meet our standards.

We felt comfortable with Royal's  knowledge of the furniture and the furniture business. Royal's true passion is designing furniture with a new interpretation of Chinese style. We learned that he personally collects furniture, from around China, and restores and/or repairs the piece as needed in his warehouse. Over the centuries, much of the antique stock of furniture, in China, has been damaged due to neglect and the conditions in which they have been housed. We hand-selected about 45 pieces of furniture from his collection.

try to reach Mr.Royal Hsu at 13621990301 or 13901685220 email:shanghaifurniture@hotmail.com, and get to know where his warehouse is to see his chinese antique furniture collection.

Not Beijing, Shsnghai! Read the memo carefully or you don't get your 5 mao. And spamming the same message 2x in a row is not rewarded double.

A:I had a similar experience in HK. If I recall correctly, before or at the Z visa application, I had to submit ME from the ordinary HK clinic, where I explained why I need ME and I asked them to examine only necessary things (I don't remember the cost ...), and then ... I got Z stamp and when back in China, I had to complete another RP ME, which was on the employer, i.e. included in the Contract ...We've never discussed refund of payment for HK ME with my employer. Year 2013 ...I'd say, that is a regular thingy embassies around the world require, before issuing visas for LT stay in the country. "Vladimir Vladimiro-Witch ras-Putin" (LOL@your pronunciation ..) demands the same thingy before granting LT stay in Ruski.  ... Haa, 2013 was the Snowden's year. I was in Kowloon at the time of his landing .. with all these files ... I'm-Still-in-LMAO-State ... Cost for the ME in HK was around HK$ 2000/200 EUR, and ME was kind of swift, quicker and way shorter than on the mainland ... -- icnif77
