11 years 45 weeks ago in Visa & Legalities - China
I tried teaching, I wouldn't sign a contract as it wasn't what was offered. I look good, dress well. Young kids forget it. Older students were good. Being a good looking monkey wasn't enough, they used a picture of me at home with my dog. They wanted too many hours and too many days. I quit. I really want to manage a massage a parlor or KTV.
It really does not work by province....the decision will be a local decision, taken by the local FEC and the PSB...so let's try to consider this on that level.
1. Try Hunan..the poorer parts, not the capital city.
2. Try Heilongjiang, at least the more remote areas, like QiQihar and Daqing. Harbin might work under the right set of circumstances.
3. Forget about Guangdong, Shanghai and Beijing.
4. Try the poorer parts of Shandong Province, forget about Qingdao and Zibo.
Those are just my thoughts based upon what I know and what I have heard. Still, you will need to have or somehow find two years of work experience, have a TESOL or CELTA, and preferably come from one of the scheduled countries. Things are changing around here and rather quickly at that, mostly because of the economic problems in Europe and the unemployment in the States.
Not by province, just the school with the best guanxi.
Pretty sure most if not all of them...even in the big city I've known a guy that was 20 years old never stepped his foot on a college campus before and he got a z or an f visa from the school...
If you don't have a degree, you have no training. You might not like teaching. Structure and tense etc is boring as hell.
Re WonHungLo above, what you write is correct but a goodly number of "foreign teachers" in China are just expected to be"white (or black) monkeys" but their employers. Structure and tense are of little concern to the employer. Appearance and marketability of the teacher are the most important, IMHO.
