with safety and quality(dont laugh) which would be the best choice from what you heard, read or experienced. reasonably priced new.
tks
.50 Caliber was the deciding factor, useful in SZ traffic.
BobC:
I like the entrenching tools on the side. Can be useful for close quarters.
kikikillercat:
I like this option but i dont think my GF can handle a 50 caliber, and i certainly dont want her to drive................new license and no practice since...he he
one with a bloody big Bull Bar
and don't forget the spot lights and fishing rod holders
You didnt give a budget or preference. You want Chinese? Foreign? How much is your max? Do you like to drive? Or just want room for 5? Gadgets or safety?
Everyone has a different idea of a good car.
kikikillercat:
your right Mike, im looking for a CUV, or whatever, and yes, I spend a lot of time in Guanxi, being a provicence unlike the others, not so much money and roads beaten to shit, as i have crossed numerous on motorcycle. Also, i do go to villages where there are dirt roads and mountains.
I've looked at the XRV which is smaller than a CRV and also the changan s75, whereas the s35 is very small.
mike695ca:
Well the good thing about the XRV is that it is brand new, so you wont have a new model coming out next year making your car old. Plus it is based on the Honda fit which is usually considered the best of the mini cars, so it wouldnt be a bad choice at all.
People also like the little ford eco sport.
If you are going to buy now then they are good choices. If you are planning on waiting a little while I would suggest the Mazda CX-3. It will be around the same price as the above 2, plus better to drive and a waaaay higher level interior. Mazda interiors are amazing for the price. No other company comes close.
None, I would get a car. A small SUV is pointless. Go big, or go home.
SUVs are for people who dont care about the planet. If you buy anything other than a small energy efficient vehicle you have no right to complain about polution.
Scandinavian:
Scots wrote this from a pedal powered computer. This is why he is most often striaght to the point.
dongbeiren:
In cities I'd agree but for people who live in mountainous areas or rural places with a lot of snow an SUV with all wheel drive can greatly improve safety and let people get around in difficult conditions.
mike695ca:
Before you would be totally right but there are no small SUVs so he is reffering to a CUV which is exactly a small economic, energy efficient car with a high seating position. No discernable diffetence between a Honda civic and a Honda CRV. Exact same engine and exact same platform. The CRV just has a taller roof and is slower.
kikikillercat:
SUV doesnt pollute the air like manufacturing, but they suck up too much gas. most SUV's made in China have 1.5, 1.8 2.0 engines.....foreign have the bigger motors.
If you want a cheap, small SUV... you can go for... the Ford Ecosport (about 110k fully loaded)... the Haval H3 (about 100k fully loaded).
There are some decent Chinese brands now, this one guy just the other day gave us a ride from a mountain back to the city and he paid 110k for his SUV that could seat 7 people and it was some Chinese brand with a horse symbol (not quite sure)... seemed pretty safe.
I ve got a soft spot for the MG car company. Was British but is now Chinese. Their cars since Chinese takeover, thus far haven't been the absolute best out there, but have been reasonable qualitiy and excellent value. Their best yet is the new SUV crossover the GTS. Looks good, will be streets ahead of any other Chinese rivals and I'm guessing will be a very good price. Its due out this spring and I think it'll be a competitor against nissan and lexus suv s because it is much cheaper in price while having all the toys.
mike695ca:
Did yu really just say that the MG will compete with Lexus? Have you ever been inside of a car
mike695ca:
HAhaha. That makes perfect sense then. Yeah it will be a direct competitor with Hyundai.
Haval H3 or H6....!!!
kikikillercat:
HAVAL h6 and others are on truck frame..........so... not as safe and heavier. I drove the H2 which is car body but i wasnt impressed, but it looked good.
why SUV ?
kikikillercat:
small suv or CUV or whatever its called. i do go into the villages often and bad roads in southern china are everywhere. Need to sit up a bit higher to see the pot holes. Ive riden 5000 kilometers in china on a motorcycle and it is exhausting having to continually search for every f/hole on the road ahead.

Okay, get Skoda Yeti, it is great car for the money.
Skoda owned by VW? VW parts are really cheap....i have a friend who works for a VW dealership in CA and says its total crap!
Im looking for safety are reliability around 100-140K rmb
thanks
Landwind, it is awesome for the money... Buy a used BYD S6 for 60k and spend another 60 air bagging the shit out of it....
Be realistic, you cant get anything safe under 500k...If they say its safe, they are lying...so just accept it and buy something normal....as said above haval is good, I really like the land wind....its a good car..
Why worry about safety?...you are dying soon by all that smog you are breathing in and the food you are eating...screw it GO BIG OR GO HOME,,,
If you want a Chinese model, I would get a Volvo. I have been driving a BYD Song (S3) for about a week now. While I am impressed with the interior and features for such a low priced car, The 1.5 turbo engine is rough. It has the power and torque but it is buzzy under acceleration and noisy at idle. Maybe this wouldn't bother you as much as me. There is a hybrid version coming out soon, I wish I could have waited for it.
If you want a foreign import, I recommend Ford.or the Honda CRV. Both have great engines, are reliable and good looking.
