I don't mean a dish here, just a single item or ingredient.
The other day I bought radish at the local market and had 3 people ask me how one was supposed to eat it. They genuinely had 0 clue.
Cold food. I don't like reheated meat (usually). I was eating a cold spare rib and a girl said I must cook it, even showed me a pot, so I took cold left over rice from frig and ate it. She went bonkers.
Baked beans on toast. Crisps Sandwich. Hash Cakes. Buttered Biscuits. Fried banana (in a fry-up).
Cheese, and the way we melt it to cook.
Pâté.
But the one that seemed to impress the most was raw meat, like in a Steak Tartare or Carpaccios.
Squid Ink Risotto. I was at a dinner party where this was made by a really good Italian chef. Asside from the chef, I was the only foreigner and we were the only ones willing to go anywhere near it. Which I was grateful for because it was amazing.
