I obviously know that the Spring Festival is all about the lunar calendar, but do they really have to refer to dates as "初 (Chu)" 1-15? It makes it really confusing and more difficult to figure out the actual date of certain events. Can't they just stick to the regular calendar?
Maybe is confusing to you, fa,iliar only with solar calendar. But to them, raised with the lunar one, it is quite simple to follow.
At home, I buy every year for 4 Rmb a calendar that shows both, solar and lunar days, and it does makes it easier for me to follow or find a specific date or event. Quite simple.
And not only do they refer to lunar dates during Spring Festival but in my experience, when I have asked someone when their birthday is, they will often give me two dates: the date according to the Chinese lunar calendar and the date according to the Greogrian calendar.
I celebrate lunar birthday. Farmers are still at the plough according to lunar calendar.
