Big in the Chinese "news" lately was how a woman ripped off the flaky skin off her feet and then put it in her mouth and ate it. From a personal anecdote, my friend told me how a man ripped out his nose hairs, admired the robustness of the growth, and then popped it in his mouth. The friend was forced to watch all of this because this happened on a crowded subway, and he was pushed up with this guy in his face.
Just an isolated incident? Part of a nationwide trend? Please inform.

Take the subway late in the night in any major city of the world and you will see weird stuffs. The things I'vee seen in London & Paris subway
Paulberger:
true. take the train, subway, or bus in L.A. and you meet the most interesting of people.
belle_watson:
Indeed, in L.A., like the U.S. Border Control empyting an entire light rail between Los Angeles and San Diego of purported illegals and just hauling them away. Of course the good old white folk said nothing.
Germany 1938.
Englteachted:
Haha, according to the OP it was a crowded subway. So this clearly wasn't late at night. And subways typically stop running.
And did you see anyone rip off their skin/ nose hair and eat it? Or are you referring to the homeless people, drunk people.
Trying to put the spot light on another country, I understand. You can't handle people talking negative about your country. But leave my country out of your country's problems. When there is a conversation about USA being in Iraq, I don't say "But China ..." I acknowledge when my country is in the wrong, in a small way it helps prevent it from happening again. People in China should learn that.
DrMonkey:
Meh, I'm not Chinese, I'm French. And yes, I've seen gross things day time in subways. Take a large enough city, and you'll see one person eating their boogers. That's statistical. There's a lot of things to complain and expose in China for the good of humanity and one's sanity. Making sweeping generalization out of "news at 11, a freak ate his boogers" is going as low as the worst of Chinese media.
Google turns up this gem:

That is weird,we Chinese usually don't eat something comes from our body.
Ok, you see the article. It is an average looking Chinese person (does not mean every or most). But in my entire life living in a shitty part of the states, I have never heard of this, So mr monkey, what exactly have you seen?
This is disgusting behavior period.
