To be honest, I am the only one I know of. None of my foreign friends in Guilin nor in Beijing will take more than the "polite sip".

I dont like bai jiu but i do enjoy eg guo tou, though my preferred drink is gin and tonic.

I've been buying it to take home. Its cheaper than paint stripper and I want to do some body work on my 38 Chevy this summer.

Shall we get together to drink? I enjoy the hell out of 牛栏山. It took time to acquire a taste for it, but I've come to really like it. It's better to drink it while the weather is cold, but I want stray to far from it during the summer. smiley

Sounds good! It is indeed a winter drink. Summer I rather have cold beer and cold cocktails.

this is a chinese person trying to say all foreigners are drunks. if he knew any better he would know beer is the drug of choice

GuilinRaf:

Man! So far I am the only er guo tou drinker here among the expats!

Yes, beer is indeed a necessity here in China even tough it may often times be limited to piss tasting variants. Many ain "interesting dish" were made more palatable with a cleansing beer to help it along.  Also, a proven remedy for a BCD.

A:I had a similar experience in HK. If I recall correctly, before or at the Z visa application, I had to submit ME from the ordinary HK clinic, where I explained why I need ME and I asked them to examine only necessary things (I don't remember the cost ...), and then ... I got Z stamp and when back in China, I had to complete another RP ME, which was on the employer, i.e. included in the Contract ...We've never discussed refund of payment for HK ME with my employer. Year 2013 ...I'd say, that is a regular thingy embassies around the world require, before issuing visas for LT stay in the country. "Vladimir Vladimiro-Witch ras-Putin" (LOL@your pronunciation ..) demands the same thingy before granting LT stay in Ruski.  ... Haa, 2013 was the Snowden's year. I was in Kowloon at the time of his landing .. with all these files ... I'm-Still-in-LMAO-State ... Cost for the ME in HK was around HK$ 2000/200 EUR, and ME was kind of swift, quicker and way shorter than on the mainland ... -- icnif77
