Q: Why is there so little public awareness about AIDs in China?

It's a huge issue, and there are a LOT more people suffering from it in China than anyone really knows, so why doesn't the government, the schools, parents, etc. talk about it more? Why is it so hush hush here?

To keep appearance.  If it's not talked about, then the average person forgets about it.  So in their minds it doesn't exist then.  So which looks better for the government?  To spend money and resources admitting there is an AIDs problem that they are trying to educate the people, or pretend it doesn't exist leading the masses to think that China is one of the special countries that doesn't have that problem.

Just like any problem that exists in China, they do not want people to know about it.
Remember SARS?
They don't educate people about any form of STD let alone AIDS.
The government cares more about harmony or the appearence of harmony than human lives which is very sad.
