Q: Why won't my XiaoMi phone update?

My friend also has a Xiaomi, and she said my software is like a 9 months, and asked why I haven't updated it. I tried, but I can't.

I did not buy it through Xiaomi, but at a China Mobile store. Concerned that the China Mobile Store sold me a fake Xiaomi that can't update or something.

That might be a problem... and you could solve it very easy:

Buy Nokia phone, like I have. I am not sure, what model no. is, but it cost me HK$190 in 'red-model-color'surprise.

I nick-name it 'iPhone ....'and I always 'upgrade' the no., usually one higher than the latest released iPhone.

Xiaomi only sell their phones online......Id suggest you go back to the store you bought it with a Chinese friend to translate and ask there.

The latest update is 7.2.2.0 ..........if your phone works with an older version, who gives a shit? Maybe you were sold a Da Mi. Yes, they are a thing and appear to be identical in appearance and slightly lower spec .....and of course won't recieve the MiUi updates every few weeks.

There are websites that show how to spot a copy Xiaomi phones. When I checked mine a few years back it was to do with the flash unit. I seem to recall Xiaomi even have an app to check if your phone is genuine. But I think you need to use a VPN to find the sites.

A:Good question!  I'd say, if you study at Uni in China beside working full-time as an E.T. with Residence permit, you don't interfere with your full-time employment. It's your free time and you can do anything you want, with respect to the Chinese laws and customs. Have a look at terms of Z visa/Residence permit and ... ".. you cannot work (and earn monies!) with another employer ..."That's all it is! Your RP sponsor title is written on the RP stamp in your passport, I think. It's in Mandarin, so I've heard about that from someone ...At I.D.-ing by cops, they know where you work and than more details about you are just a phone call away ... and it happened in person ... LOL ... during the day-time stroll through Wulumuqi, Xinjiang, 2012/13 semester. Now under RP, you're free to surf Internet, jog, ... and study, too. I suggest, you look and ask at the Uni, you plan to study in the future. Have a detailed look at requirements for studying and attending chosen Uni.Good luck! -- icnif77
