Q: Will the Chinese media continue to overlook the bigger issues regarding these random attacks?

Beijing airport bomb blast over the weekend, another stabbing yesterday which was preceding by a guy who killed four last week...

Yes only in Beijing and perhaps a coincidence but I often see that the Chinese media dismiss these people as "mentally ill" or "terrorists" without really looking into their back stories or motifs. Fair enough the wheelchair bomber at the airport saw an old chengguan abuse case reopen, but generally I find that they are just brushed aside and deemed as exceptions.

There seems to be a considerable rise in violent attacks on the streets in China and it all points to a whole myriad societal problems. Things will only get worse if the authorities/media continue to face these incidents full on and look at the hows the whys and the whos etc.

I would say most of these people like the Beijing bomber has something against the Gov and in his case was the Chenguan. By saying to the people they have a mental illness is way better than saying these people have something against the Gov.

what is the cost of taking care of the mentally ill to the budget of china.

what is the cost of letting them roam the streets and reduce the population.

which is cheaper in the long run for the government.

after all, in china, government is business in china, and they do it very well with out the emotional concerns of little people.
also putting them on the streets to create chaos allows government to come in on the white horse and show they care about you and they are your saviour from problems, brilliant plan actually.

What exactly are the bigger issues...?  I'm not sure if I got that part in your detail..

Samsara:

The bigger issue is your government (through its various agencies) suppressing and brutalizing people.

This includes violent suppression of the ethnic minorities in Xinjiang and Tibet, chengguan maiming and occasionally killing poor people, etc..

Because the victims have no legal recourse (if they complain through the official channels they face further persecution and imprisonment), they have to resort to extreme tactics just to be noticed.

Sadly I think the answer to your question appears to be- Yes.

I would be very surprised if the situation changed anytime soon. There is no real benefit for them to even attempt a more intense investigation.

A:Good question!  I'd say, if you study at Uni in China beside working full-time as an E.T. with Residence permit, you don't interfere with your full-time employment. It's your free time and you can do anything you want, with respect to the Chinese laws and customs. Have a look at terms of Z visa/Residence permit and ... ".. you cannot work (and earn monies!) with another employer ..."That's all it is! Your RP sponsor title is written on the RP stamp in your passport, I think. It's in Mandarin, so I've heard about that from someone ...At I.D.-ing by cops, they know where you work and than more details about you are just a phone call away ... and it happened in person ... LOL ... during the day-time stroll through Wulumuqi, Xinjiang, 2012/13 semester. Now under RP, you're free to surf Internet, jog, ... and study, too. I suggest, you look and ask at the Uni, you plan to study in the future. Have a detailed look at requirements for studying and attending chosen Uni.Good luck! -- icnif77
