Q: Will hip-hop take off in China the same as it has in Japan or Korea?

I've been a hip-hop fan ever since hearing Grandmaster Flash's 'The Message' back in the early 80s and that interest has been re-invigorated since stumbling across the dance duo 'Les Twins' recently on my potato (itudou). Seen kids break-dancing outside KFC a bunch of times but on the whole i'm not aware of any major hip-hop culture in China; not that i'm looking to join one if there is, i'm 45 and there's nothing sadder than seeing a grown man trying to do a windmill then complaining that it irritated his piles, but it's still my favourite area of dance culture.

Too early. In some years. Why do I think that is? I will tell you... THIS http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMTgzNzc0ODgw.html only has 500 views.  Does it get better than the first 30 seconds of this video, no computer tricks, just 3 music and dance happy young guys.

mArtiAn:

Yeh it gets better, what was that, thirty years old? Still pretty sweet though.

In Suzhou, in a popular walk next to Jinli Lake, in front of the 'Giant Pants' building, there's a small group practicing their moves. So there might be something Smile

I was in langfang (small town between Beijing and Tianjin) earlier this year and at the hotel I was staying at there was a hip hop dance performance by a school that was founded in the city by a Chinese guy who loves the genre. It was really good actually and there were about 50 children dancing really well to so good music. So there's hope for the future.
