Q: The Wrigley's test ....would your students pass?

Q.What is the Wrigley's test you ask.
A. To see if a person can walk and chew gum at the same time.
The other day we had a young Kiwi guy at work.
We were a little sus about his ability to use logic so I put two shovels against the wall and told him to take the pick.....he just stood there confused.
So i draw a circle in the dirt around him and told him to stand in the corner. .....he looked around the circle looking for the corner.
Sadly this story is 100% not made up.
Have you any similar stories you can share?

Gave him two shovels and asked him to take the pick. No pick to take, unless he thought you said 'pic', and chose to take a photo.  We frequently run into similar situations regarding innovation versus creativity with our Chinese manufacturers. There have been many times then when I thought retroactive abortions are prudent.

Besides its challenging and logic sides, it's art and poetic. I loved reading this post.

Creativity as a challenge , real life seeking solutions. The absurd proved reasonable.

I had no idea of such test. Thanks for posting it!

Aikidan:

One of my favorites in the USA, long ago, involved having someone sit on the floor and be covered with a bed sheet.  They were then told to remove everything they didn't need.  Lots of naked, embarrassed participants when they finally realized (or were told), they didn't need the bed sheet.

You know you're getting older when young people are getting older.

Young people are coddled and protected as children. They expect credit just for breathing.

A:I had a similar experience in HK. If I recall correctly, before or at the Z visa application, I had to submit ME from the ordinary HK clinic, where I explained why I need ME and I asked them to examine only necessary things (I don't remember the cost ...), and then ... I got Z stamp and when back in China, I had to complete another RP ME, which was on the employer, i.e. included in the Contract ...We've never discussed refund of payment for HK ME with my employer. Year 2013 ...I'd say, that is a regular thingy embassies around the world require, before issuing visas for LT stay in the country. "Vladimir Vladimiro-Witch ras-Putin" (LOL@your pronunciation ..) demands the same thingy before granting LT stay in Ruski.  ... Haa, 2013 was the Snowden's year. I was in Kowloon at the time of his landing .. with all these files ... I'm-Still-in-LMAO-State ... Cost for the ME in HK was around HK$ 2000/200 EUR, and ME was kind of swift, quicker and way shorter than on the mainland ... -- icnif77
