Q: Is your boss trustworthy?

Are there days when you trust him or her 100% and other days when don't trust him or her at all?  Is he or she consistently one or the other?  Is it a cultural difference, a language problem, a personality difference problem or just no problem at all?

I would never want to work for an untrustworthy boss so if I did find out the boss was untrustworthy I'd leave. For me I've had plenty of bosses and I've also lead some people as well. I wouldn't want to be dishonest with an employee and I wouldn't want them to be dishonest with me. So I've had fair bosses throughout China and most of the the time there weren't too many problems or troubles that I could think of.

Without a shadow of a doubt I would say that my current boss is one of the most trustworthy men I have met in China. He's like a brother to me and treats me like family.

Unfortunately ,my boss is untrustworthy. As this is my first boss,i have got no one to compare .I will change my job when the holiday is over.I am a native,so the problem lies not in culture or language, but in  the personality.

It's not that he's untrustworthy, but he is a "snake in the grass" in the business sense.  You have to make sure to get anything important in writing and if you ever give him an inch he'll keep taking miles until you call him out on it.

My Chineses bosses overall have been fair, if not stern, and have delivered on all of their major promises while some have wimped out on a few of the minor promises.  I have been paid on time here always; I have always had my visa on time; if the contract said "x", then the boss performed "x".  I have had two foreign DOS's here, both Australian, and one was an absolute two-faced slime, could not be trusted, played both sides against the middle, and the other one was just a letter-perfect guy who went on to better things.

I work at EET-Baotuo  and my employers are great.  After I became aware of how many horrid employers exist I can only thank God I wound up in good hands.

A: No, it's not allowed to work under RP at 2nd job! I'd say, Z visa
A:No, it's not allowed to work under RP at 2nd job! I'd say, Z visa/RP sponsor can have an objections to your part-time job. I did the same at my English teaching in China and elsewhere, butT ... I casually mentioned at my prime job, some kindergarten or another school asked me to work with them part-time. Then, my Q: "Is that permitted?" ...  Answer from RP sponsor was always "Yes, but you can't be late or miss the classes at our school ..." with my reply: "No, our work schedule has a priority, and I'll arrange classes at kindergarten only in my free time." When I cleared that, I was undertaking any extra teaching hours at other schools and private students in my free time.Sometimes, teachers at my prime job asked me if I'm willing to have some extra classes elsewhere.I accepted after the talk with School's principal. I suggest, you test the felling at your Z/RP sponsor and once you see they don't object, you can work at 2nd job. Keeping your 2nd job as a secret from your employer won't work, 'cause you're laowai and Chinese know exactly what you do in your free time. However, despite your employer's agreement for extra work, you are still in violation of Chinese Labour law, and even if your sponsor agrees to your extra work, you can still get in trouble, because it's clearly written (somewhere ... ) that under Z/WP, one can work only at the Z-sponsor and nowhere else. Penalties ... I'd say, there won't be any warnings and you'll be required to exit China in short Exit time.It never happened to me, so I can't really advice how is when manure hits the fan ...  -- icnif77
