merry christmas from the great white north,
I'm preparing to cook Xmas dinner ( 12 hours behind you). I do a water brine turkey and all the trimmings. Yes I'm an excellent cook, I'm Ukrainian so I make cabbage rolls etc with it.
I'm wondering how many of you will have turkey for Xmas? Sorry if I make you home sick.
Well, I am sick of turkey, so I decided to go for a rear leg of pig roasted, with black beans, rice and cassava. Learned that in Mexico one Xmas, and loved it. So, today I am takeing a crack at it without even a recipee !. We shall see how it turns out. Will take 6 hours bin oven at 170 C for the pig, and 45 minutes on pressure cooker for Chinese black beans done Mexican style. I got me a blttle of Mouton Cadet dry red French wine, made some eggnog also last night, so I plan a feast tonight, with international flavor.
A very Merry Christsmas to all !.
I had turkey for Thanksgiving here back in 07... they are rare but can be found in somewhere like Metro, then had an expat friend that was living in a hotel apartment that actually had a stove cook it and I carried it to another friends apartment.
This year... chicken burgers from the Chinese fast food place and a bottle of Jack
Merry Christmas
I haven't had it in 2-3 years haha I missed out on the turkey alot recently...
I had brined turkey, honey baked ham, home made stuffing, sweet potatoe sufflet, cranberry dressing and a fine Belgian fruit lager to wash it all down with. It was the first Christmas meal I have had in 6 years and was absolutely wonderful. :)
I went to McDonald's with friends, where I had chicken nuggets and fries. It tastes good, but nowhere near as good as real Christmas food.
