ok, there is yahoo and google but as I understand, they are banned in china, then there is QQ and wechat but can their translations be trusted not filtered? And there is Skype which I never have used to communicate to people in china from the US So, which of these choices of communication via the internet are best are reliable don't cost and can be trusted that are allowed in china? Are there any other choices? and please, stick to the subject!

how have you been communicating with your gf up to now?
what is wrong with the method you have been using up to now?
were you using semaphore?
Morse code?
any method of online communication you use is being monitored by any and all governments.
It is what they do to keep us safe from ourselves: we of course don't know what is good for us.
any online method is as reliable as the Chinese government (or any government) chooses it to be. They are the ones controlling the internet.

What's wrong with the semaphore? I always use semaphore, and I'm color blind.
'Stay on topic, please!'

no sorrel im using a more modern way of communicating and its smoke signals ok? the way im communicating is by a translator but its not free i want to use yahoo without this translator but yahoo is banned she has bad experinces with QQ before
ScotsAlan:
Interesting. 22 years old and bad experience with qq... let me guess... she forgot her password :-)
Spiderboenz:
@Scots more likely that she accidentally clicked on the 'video chat' icon while chatting with someone and revealed that she is actually a 200 Kg guy. Can't let that happen again, can she?

Most younger Chinese in their twenty's can read and write some English
if you read a post that I did last week about translation apps, there where a lot of very good ideas posted there
Stop being lazy, study and learn Chinese rather than expecting them to speak English to you in their own country. That's my 2 cents.
cub:
what if she plans to move to my country? For her to learn know some english is a must! and it wouldnt hurt!
dokken:
She doesn't speak English. Hahahaha, you're a gem. How the hell have you been communicating thus far? Please keep us updated
So... You are more than twice her age (Generational gap)... Come from a completely different socio-economic background (Income gap) ...Have a major educational difference (Educational gap)... Have a vastly different culture of origin (Cultural gap)... And now there is a linguistic incompatibility (Language gap)...
You are being set up to be taken advantage of.
cub:
spider, read the last few words i wrote to whomever replies to me ok? i said stick to my questions answer them as helping me not lecture about my age her age our age gaps Dont get your panties in a wad losing sleep worrying about answers to a question that has nothing to do with what i asked! see, u are assuming things i never said What if i had a lady much older than the one u know about that i want to contct other than this other younger lady u again assume i want to contact? u even thought of this? Again spider, look into your cracked crystal ball some more ok?

Wechat translation is good enough for a reasonably intelligent person from foreignerland to get the gist of most messages. Video (yes, she has no excuses because she undoubtedly has an iphone) works well enough. I don't think you will find too many messages filtered unless you discuss forbidden topics and even then I doubt it. Although, red flags may go up in some extreme cases. Common sense.
C3P0 is fluent in over 6 million forms of communication. I would highly recommend his services.
download wechat, it has the translation option.
just long press the language and it'll translate.
QQ international also has the same function, but qq is less used nowadays.
qq, wechat, skype, they are all for free. yahoo and google, she needs to buy VPN to get access to. none of them will cost you a penny.

Cub use wechat the chinese name is weixin 微信. Your story sounds similar to a story posted on here about a Canadian man. Be careful you are not being conned. Perhaps a relative of hers will become ill and need cash immediately but hers is tied up in business. It is possible the translator is changing the translation when you talk about different methods of communication. He doesn't want to lose his income after all. You can also use youdao 有道 it is a chinese translation software.
skype in major cities can be quite reliable, but outside the big cities it will make you a raving alcoholic trying to get it to work when you need it to work.
i trust phones much less than the internet, so i use no phone apps at all, zero.
for the paranoid, onion protocol through another vpn to skype. good luck
A google translate relationship. Hahahaha. Genius.
iWolf:
After seeing all these questions, I believe that this relationship is legit and that nothing could possibly go wrong.
You should ask her to buy you an iphone 6 so you can face time each other.
Go on Cub.... break the mould... get her to buy you an iphone
icnif77:
Is I-6 compatible with 'semaphore' app?
I wonder, if Native English know the meaning of word 'semaphore' without searching the Internet?
ScotsAlan:
You would need a hell of a lot of relay stations to send a message from the USofA to Chiner Icniff. It would have to go via North Pole (if its frozen that is).
