For those of you who married Chinese citizens and had a baby in China: Did you choose Chinese citizenship or America/England, etc wherever you are from?
My wife (who is Chinese) and I are trying to decide what to choose and what the benefits would be.
Those of you who chose Chinese, what was the whole procedure for getting the Hukou, and are we allowed to give her only an English name on the birth certificate instead of a Chinese one?
We are likely to stay in China for at least 2-3 more years.
Sorry for so many questions.... Any advice would be very useful!!
at this point in time China might not be the place to take up residence if you aren't Chinese

Where do you intend to live long term?
So you want your child educated in China or your home country?
you have to think long term about your ultimate goal for your family.
personally, i'd have an escape plan in place for family as who would want to expose a child to polluted air, polluted food and all the unicorn droppings that non-Chinese are put through, because your child will always be considered 'foreign', not being 100% chinese.

And this too...
Also, If you're going to go home in a few years, I'd assume it would be much easier if your child is a citizen of that country.
