I've never seen cards for sale, like Mothers day, which I wouldn't expect to find.
No, they do not. The only excpetion being, of course, Chinese New Year. And you might, *might,* find a few Christmas cards. Other than that, no.
in my school, if it's your birthday today, you will take out your friends for dinner /ktv (you pay), and each of them will bring you a gift.

yeah that one - "my birthday i pay you dinner" is a great one for cheapskates in your office so beware that one. cos if workers find out it is your birthday and bring it up, the notion is that to be a good foreigner you should offer to buy them dinner.
I actually found this as a awesome opportunity to be a little creative with it. It was my GF's dad's birthday last weekend. Couldn't find a card so I ended up buying some different colored sticky notes + difference colored sharpies + cardboard from an old shoe box and like 30 minutes, I made a pretty sweet card. Got tons of brownie points and when my GF's happy, I'm happy
