Q: Does life in China secretly make you feel like a rock star at times?
I say 'secretly' because most are probably loathe to admit that as annoying as the spotlight of attention under this goldfish bowl of scrutiny that is life in the PRC may be at times, at other times it kind of makes you feel like George Clooney casually waving off reporters at the airport with an air of importance as he tells them huskilly "No pictures.....I have a plane to catch." Or maybe you never feel that way at all, maybe it's just a drag or annoyance or something to ignore to you. Which is it? How does the attention here make you feel?
It depends on who I am receiving the attention from. Some people are more desirable than others, if you get my gist.

Always have time to stop and chat with some of the cuter girls who keep staring at me, if it's school kids, men or older people I just keep my head down and keep walking...

Rock man rock!
Makes faces to the cameras.
Show them your pink boxers.
Do whatever you want and give the world a headache.
Yes, it does! And when I don't want an attention, I just pull out my red 'Nokia-I-phone' .....and everybody goes 'oohhh.....'
At first it made me think about how a black person felt during the 50/60's walking into an all white dinner.
But I am a Rock Star, Cowboy hat, long strawberry blond hair, handle bar mustache. I must say so myself, what a site for these poor country folks!
Actually, sort of (but not to the 'star' level of 'rock' just yet).
But then - I know things they don't... but want to.
It does, it's interesting the progression that it took. At first I hated it, then got used to it, then I grew to like it. Although I don't get as much attention as I did when I first arrived. Probably a combination of China getting more accustomed to foreigners and me getting older and uglier. But I have found living here has turned me into an ego-maniac. Whenever I go home and find that nobody pays any attention to me, it's quite a harsh bump back to reality.
