Not that I have bootleg dvds, but if I did, what should I do?

Customs isn't pleased with DVDs, in either country. There is the copy right thingy, plus I read that is how pediophiles get caught. I've only become aware of this because someone told me if I went to Thailand etc, that is what those countries are known for. I always thought it was for the hookers, stupid me. Then I realized that when I came back, I had a customs officers come and ask me if I had a computer in the US and Canada.
By Chinese Law you can not mail them, nor can you take them with you like in your suitcases when you fly back. That is legally.
Now, in 15 years of traveling back and forth, as many as 4 times some years, I have never been searched here, and only once upon entering USA, some darn dog waved his tail wrong at me, and they searched and searched and could not find a thing worth complaining, everything was declared and legal. I would not take 1,000 back, but if less than 100 I would. Worse case scenario is that they will be confiscated i believe.
Don't do to the extreme and take back 5000 DVD's, but the ones you do take back, first off... make sure to take out of the plastic sleeve and put and a normal dvd/cd case. It doesn't look as bad when some gets busted with individual dvds, (even if it isn't any work to reprint a new cover for the case).
But I've had many dvd cases full of dvd that I've brought back for person use over the years without a problem.
Word. I figured I should take them out of the hilariously fake movie cases. Anything else you guys can think of?
you could just tranfer them to a USB stick and use it as a key ring
then if you want burn them to DVD when you wanted to.
The fact that you are even asking this indicates you will have trouble...
I am glad this is not 1970's Turkey and you are not carrying a brick of Hash.
I don't think they will even notice without labels, if they look just say for my private use. When I came back by USA, immigration were pricks as I'm sure it's in their job description, I gave them some smart ass, even tho I know I was tempting him, I wasn't going to take his crap. Customs guys in USA, I had them laughing so we never really even discussed what I had. When coming back to Canada, I was ahead of the herd running for the gate. I think they just want to clear me quick. I had nothing over to claim, he asked about buying clothing and I said nothing there fits and all my stuff was made in China, i just took it back for a visit. I think they just want to look you over, get you out of there. Really DVD, no big deal.
Go out and buy a terabyte portable hard drive. Rip all your DVDs and store them on there. It takes up less space, and most new TVs and DVD players have a USB port.
DVDs scratch and can be bulky if you have 1,000 of them, and also, don't forget some DVDs here are in a different format than players in other countries. AVI files will play on almost anything.
Good luck!
I took back dozens of DVDs still in their packages. NO problems.
I was watching that "Locked Up Abroad" show. It seems the best way is to tape them to your body.
Wait, no. I just watched the end.
