Q: A Positive Story

My Son (2 years old) loves fire engines,we always go to look at the fire engines at the fire station which is about 10mins walk from where we live.

well last night when I got home from work I took my boy for a walk and we went and looked at the fire engines. There were about 5 fire fighters standing outside and they allowed us to go and and look at the fire engines.one of the fire fighters put my son in the drivers seat. it was nice of the fire fighters to do that we both went home with big smiles on our faces.

out of all the crap you put up with in China you get something good that happens and it makes it  everything worth while again.

some cute kids can get everywhere with a smile. even the hardest of hearts can turn mushy for a baby.

i have 2 young curious boys myself. they're heartwarming when they're not throwing tantrums or crying.

A positive story happening around Christmas (or Winter Festival, for all those PC folks out there)...the coincidence?!  Ah, Im just being a bit of a scrooge..nevermind that first sentence. Yes, a feel good story it is indeed! Cheers and Happy Holidays RR.

It's only "PC" if you bought into the whole chrsitmas thing in the first place.

For those of us who don't - it's just showing a bit of acknowledgement and respect.

The Solstices and Equinoxes, btw, are merely a fact about the world.

(I suspect that within 100 years, most of the whole 'christmas' thing will fade away, and be replaced by something more 'open' and generic (and, hopefully, less commercial)

Something good?  In PRC?  Surely you are mistaken, nothing good happens here.

DANG, now I wanna go sit in the firetrucks too. Of course a ride in a police car is most likely easier to accomplish.

Go for it! I look forward to your pocketbook: 101 ways to get a ride in a police car. It will be a tourist office bestseller!

Scandinavian:

It will be published as paperback with a CD with instructions on how to say like a police car.

Cool for you and your boy.

Actually - as much as we gripe on here, it is a place like that... people are people. Different priorities, but certainly this sort of thing isn't THAT unusual!

A:Good question!  I'd say, if you study at Uni in China beside working full-time as an E.T. with Residence permit, you don't interfere with your full-time employment. It's your free time and you can do anything you want, with respect to the Chinese laws and customs. Have a look at terms of Z visa/Residence permit and ... ".. you cannot work (and earn monies!) with another employer ..."That's all it is! Your RP sponsor title is written on the RP stamp in your passport, I think. It's in Mandarin, so I've heard about that from someone ...At I.D.-ing by cops, they know where you work and than more details about you are just a phone call away ... and it happened in person ... LOL ... during the day-time stroll through Wulumuqi, Xinjiang, 2012/13 semester. Now under RP, you're free to surf Internet, jog, ... and study, too. I suggest, you look and ask at the Uni, you plan to study in the future. Have a detailed look at requirements for studying and attending chosen Uni.Good luck! -- icnif77
