Imagine you are teaching students whose native language does not contain thekind of stress patterns we have in English. In Japan, for example, the Japanesewould give equal stress to all syllables in the word ‘banana’. How can you helpstudents hear and understand the stress?

Write an example word on the board with the stressed syllable BIG and the unstressed syllable small. then say it. Make word lists and get them to practice with partners. Walk around the room and give 1:1 guidance to kids that you see need help.
Then be sure to assign them at least 1 hour of homework.
you should teach them photography.
So you can show them how to look extremely gay in there profile photos

how rude .... ! we asians have nothing to talk to you
You can clap on each syllable and repeat this until they get the hang of it. For example if the word was apple you clap two times. YOu do this repeatedly. It will seem like a game to them and they should get familiar with the syllable pattern that way!
For younger kids, songs and chants all the way. In fact a lot of nursery rhymes and such are great for pronunciation generally and stress patterns in particular. You can 'teach' them about stress patterns and have them think it's just a fun song.
I usually write some examples on the board, and seperate the syllables with slashes. Draw small squares above the unstressed syllables, and a large square above the stressed syllable.
To reinforce, either clap as Silva said, or stamp your foot, on the stressed syllable.
As an exercise, give each student a word, and get them to work out the stress pattern. Then they must find the other students that have words with the same stress patterns, and form into groups. They should check that others in their group have worked out the stress patterns correctly.
Don't forget to also look at sentence stress.
