Q: Would a movie about an expat in China be worth seeing?

Talkword the movie would be quite boring, but some of you might have some interesting stories.

Could revamp that old English comedy franchise .

Confessions of a English Teacher coming soon
Or
Mr Bean and the CCP

Or maybe Peewee Hermon goes to Shanghai

Lord_hanson:

Mr.Bean and the CCP would be worth watching. The twist in the plot would be that he was more competent than the officials.

Phil,

you were going to make a movie about an ex-pat who went to China on a visa of a certain length.

Was it 30 days or something?

You have all the stock characters on this site:

   creepy foreign guy

   visa hunter

   schizophrenic chinese wannabe with sock-puppets.

Chinese admin........ sorry i mean official who hides rather than do anything

I'd buy a ticket

How can you know, if movie would be worth seeing, if movie isn't made yet?

It would be similar to 'stuffing and roasting a duck, while duck still runs in the woods'surprise.

You can tell, I was a hunter. angel In my previous life.

"Sorrel 2 - This time it's personal" surprise

'Marvel at the originality of the dialogue (no copying)

Students shudder as they learn to be proficient in English.

Tests are passed (without cheating or plagiarism).

Strong (original) opinions are expressed'

In a cinema near you soon

I guess so, especially if the ex-pat in question was Hannibal Lecter arriving to do a stint of English teaching.

没有声音的羊 The Sequel

"Laoshi, ni chi fan le ma?"

"Not yet but I'm starting to feel a little peckish".

"Teacher, do you like Chinese people?"

"You bet I do, especially with a bit of mustard and a red wine to wash them down with".

"Teacher, why do you wear that funny mask? It makes you look like my father".

"Teacher, is it true that Americans only eat McDonalds? What do you like to eat?".

"Teacher, you looks so handsome".

"teacher, you should come and meet my mother. She has many delicious things you would like to eat".

The movie would either be considered too borning or too racist.

If it where meant for foreign audiences, ya I think so.

If it were meant for mainland audiences it would be God-awful.

The tricky part would be to not rip off  "Lost in Translation"

It's been done.

This is Sanlitun....came out a couple of years ago. It is a bit shit but for china expats there are a few giggles and you know all the characters in the movie from your own life.

As i said, it is a bit shit but worth a look, kinda.

A:Good question!  I'd say, if you study at Uni in China beside working full-time as an E.T. with Residence permit, you don't interfere with your full-time employment. It's your free time and you can do anything you want, with respect to the Chinese laws and customs. Have a look at terms of Z visa/Residence permit and ... ".. you cannot work (and earn monies!) with another employer ..."That's all it is! Your RP sponsor title is written on the RP stamp in your passport, I think. It's in Mandarin, so I've heard about that from someone ...At I.D.-ing by cops, they know where you work and than more details about you are just a phone call away ... and it happened in person ... LOL ... during the day-time stroll through Wulumuqi, Xinjiang, 2012/13 semester. Now under RP, you're free to surf Internet, jog, ... and study, too. I suggest, you look and ask at the Uni, you plan to study in the future. Have a detailed look at requirements for studying and attending chosen Uni.Good luck! -- icnif77
