Personally, I prefer Qingdao (especially IN QINGDAO) and Harbin.
I don't like xue hua "Snow" and much others. The worst beer I ever had was some weird beer in China called "Promo"... it was French (supposedly) and utterly horribly...
I do like to drink bai jiu (helps with getting Chinese connections) but not the cheap stuff. I find the cheaper bai jiu has a sort of strange after taste and because it is not filtered very well, gives you the worst headache/hang overs.
One of my favorite types of bai jiu is fen jiu which comes from Lin fen, Shanxi (a dirty place, but awesome bai jiu). I have drank Mao tai and while it pretty good (should be it's like 5-10k rmb per bottle)... I don't think it is worth the massive price.
For some reason, Chinese LOVE it when foreigners drink bai jiu (due to their drinking culture) and because then they always know what to give you for a gift
So what about you? Do like bai jiu, any kinds or just hate them all? What is your beer of choice in China?
Do you find it easier to communicate and make friends with the locals after a few drinks? Does your Mandarin get better (if you speak it)? Has China turned you in to a drunk alcoholic that shouts "Show me your boobs" to Chinese women?

Maybe skip the beer festival in Qingdao this August and go to Poland instead.
The local green-bottled non-exported out of Harbin beer, about 1 RMB a bottle, maybe 2 RMB a bottle now, not expensive in any case and so delicious...not the exported Harbin stuff, but this local one...only beer I ever liked in China.
Too many questions. My favorite alcohol anywhere is coffee. Yea I know I'm boring.
liquan beer in cans (not in green bottles, its no good). but can it be found anywhere outside guangxi province? just wondering
I tried all the beers available in Guangdong.
Could live with the Dragon beer in white bottle, but can't say it's good. Drinkable at best.
Anything else, it's rubbish. They're all sour, light and over rich in carbon dioxide. No to little hop used, corn and rice malt instead of the right grains.
My choice is confined to S.Miguel, Asahi or Kirin, with these last 2 much more consistent in their quality.
Speaking of Bai Jiu, life to is too short to drink that shit......
Note: cheap Bai Jiu gives the worst hangovers because most likely during the distillation process they keep also the first outcome, containing methanol, which is poisonous.
It's not so much the alcohol but the way it is drunk I have a problem with.
After you grow an adult, alcohol should be a matter of appreciating a taste (or coping with a bad day all right), as opposed to a matter of showing an assembly how much you can drink rot-gut garbage without puking. I'm past that since I'm about 19.
Budweiser. but admittedly I'm no connosewer...
to my taste harbin & snow both suk. can deal w/ Tsingtao though.
wouldn't drink baijiu if i were paid.
harbin beer.far and away.
i hate bai jiu but i went to some villages near Guilin and they had home made kinds that are quite sweet and flavourful
Baijiu is not for humans. Perhaps the car might appreciate it. I 100% refuse to touch it and sometimes that presents a problem for a drunk-on-baijiu chinese chap. Bad luck! I will not touch it, at all, ever.
That said, I love beer and very much appreciate a dry white wine. I gave up drinking red quite some time ago due to a recognised penchant for skulling it.
Chinese beer is front and centre in the ordinary basket. Lived in Qingdao for a cpl of years and found that the fresh jiapi (sic) was pretty good. The bottled stuff has about 7 different grades and often proved problematic...given I usually drank it to excess. The top drop of Laoshan was perhaps better than the top Qingdao, btw.
Out here in Xinjiang we (me...) drink Wusu beer and, in my opinion, it's as good as QD. All the others in China are like the food...the same....average. Oh, had some most agreeable draught in Hangzhou a cpl of years ago.
The wine is average too but what the...gotta drink up.
Me too, Tsingdao and Harbin are fine beers, Xuehua has a funny taste that's not meant for me and as far as I have encountered any baijius I thought I might want to use it for cleaning the Kitchen. And then airing it for a long time, of course. But RoyceH's suggestion sounds good, too. Fuel, win the Grand Prix.

You, person, are truly a Foolish Mufti. Yanjing beer is the worst beer in the whole world. I'd rather drain a yard glass of maiden's piss than have to even look at a Yanjing beer ever again.
Yanjing beer is a joke and a disgrace.
Hakupatasa:
For me other beers are a joke. In fact all Chinese beers are a joke. For me, the best beer in the world is Hefeweizen beer, irrespective of brand name. As long as I get it, everything is shit. Only problem is I could not go or I don't want to go to Carrefour every week to get Hefe and the price is above 10 RMB for a can. There is only one shop between home and office and it sells Snow and Yanjing Beer. Between those two, I prefer Yanjing. When I realize I polluted my system enough, I run to carrefour (walmart is way far), buy any brand of Hefe beer and I rock the evening.
royceH:
You are right. Snow beer is the worst beer in the world and I'd rather skull a yard glass of maiden's piss than have to drink one of those ever again.
Someone gave me Er Gou Tou as a present one time...I used it to clean the whiteboard in my classroom LOL.

My favorite Chinese beer is the beer that I don't have to drink.
You should check out the restaurants nearby the Tsingtao brewery in... the city of Qingdao.
They serve draft beer which could come packed in..... polybags, fresh from the beer factory. Tastes gooooooood!
Baijiu... We say the better a baijiu, the more velvity and less after-burn it gives you. The opposite for a cheap average one...
If your seen drinking Er-Guo-Tou (one of those cheap average ones), you'll immediately blend in on the streets; Yang He - sky blue or Ocean-blue will be a safe bet when social drinking with some big shots.
My dad has been drinking Er-Guo-Tou day in and day out, he got colon cancer at a later age. Man stay away from this shit.

Miss the Tai Shan beer with the big number "7" on the bottle.
